Ever try to un-AT a coin only to make it worse?

9 posts in this topic

I just did lol

I had an AT Walking Lib Half, with hot neon pink and green around the rim. I took it to the sink to try and wash the AT off, and it must have been a combination of the soap and water or whatever I used, but now the crescent around the rim is gone but the center of the coin is blue and green and pink...

Jeez...

I tried to get a few, but the toning is only visible at an angle and I couldn't hold the coin still enough to get the toning :P

If the coin is in MS condition, a quick dip in Jewel Luster MAY remove those colors but there are no guarantees.

Some coins are AT'ed beyond recovery since the surface of the metal can actually be destroyed in the process.
