Anyone else like darkly toned and colorful Peace dollars?

10 posts in this topic

So often Peace dollars come a bright white or maybe with a bit of gray or tan toning that to find them with neat color is a chore.

Now, this one might be a bit too dark for most here, but I like it just fine.

Am I alone?

The coin looks cool and has really spectacular die polish.

Thanks Tom.

Shane, I don't blame you, it took me awhile to have it grow on me too.

Now... it is tough to see in the photos but as this is an "S" mint, there are some healthy die cracks on the obverse. I guess if you look carefully at the neck area you can see where they begin and then look between about the 7:00 to 10:00 position, just a little away from the rim and you'll see a line running around- a neat die crack.

Others too, but not seen with the toning.

This is one of those coins that probably has a completely different look in hand.....darkly toned tend to have this colorful glow that is next to impossible to catch with a camera.....I am sure it would appeal to me much more in hand but as is...it still 100 times nicer than a blast white example.
