Unfortunately, there was absolutely no silver. :( By far, the most populous was the 1976 D with nearly 7.5 rolls'-worth out of the 50 in the box.

I compiled a similar survey a couple of years ago on my searches of half dollar boxes, here, in South Florida, and my results were nearly the same as yours. However, when I first began searching the $500 boxes 4-5 years ago, I was able to accumulate 10 rolls of 40% silver halves. It wasn't until 3 years ago that the "mother lode" seemed to have played out.

It's annoying that I found no silver because when I did this in April '06, I found 5 40% silvers. Though I guess that would fit relatively well with your timeline. :(

In the past, I was ordering the boxes through my BoA branch. About a year ago, I learned that they maintain their own "storehouses" for coins and currency. In effect, everything that I had been searching was just recycled within their own system.

On occasion I also pick up two boxes of $50 each from our local bank and go through them very quickly. I manage to find a few 40% halves, but the 90% halves are almost never seen by me.

Are hand-rolled rolls more likely to have silver than boxes?

You can often find silver in the self-rolled coins when a retiree on a fixed income is running short of funds near the end of the month. A couple of the tellers at my bank let me know whenever rolls are exchanged for cash. However, if a customer brings in rolls of various denominations, it is more likely that he/she is just getting cash for the accumulation in the change jar.
