I believe the first branch mint coin was a half eagle in Charlotte, in March, 1838. Dahlonega followed in April with half eagles, and New Orleans coined dimes in May.

I remember seeing this on a sign in the New Orleans mint museum that I just visited. I guess the trip wasn't all that bad after all. Haha. PM sent.
