Cleaned Morgan Dollar

2 posts in this topic

I have an 1886-O Morgan Dollar which appears to have MS details but which looks to have been cleaned. Would NCS have any luck conserving this coin where it may cross over to NGC grading? Thanks for your time.

Though we certainly could remove any residues or toning from a coin that has been improperly cleaned, even after professional conservation the will still be improperly cleaned. It looks there may be some light PVC residue on your pice though this may just be a property of the image. This residue could be removed. Probably the best we would do with a coin such as yours would then be to authenticate and encapsulate it in an NCS Details Grade holder.
