Baliwick of Jersey-Odd Denominations

8 posts in this topic

I was hunting through coins from Jersey because there was a 6 coin set minted in 1992& 93 that had 6 different famous ships on them....I stumbled across these old part shillings from the 1800's...

Strange denominations which have changed over the years from 1/12th shilling from 1/13th..and 1/24th from 1/26th......these would make a simple and fun little sub-set to collect by denomination.

Some have only 5 or 6 coins--I'm thinking of collecting all 5 of the 1/12th shillings from the 1800's and putting them in a multi-holder as a complete set...

Here are 2 I just got--and they are cheap too considering the condition and age especiallly...

1877H 1/12th in MS

1894 1/12th in XF/AU......any thought, comments?
