Yes.

 

The dies for making them still exist and have been used for making similar pieces using much more recent coins.

 

Especially, Ike dollars and Kennedy halves. The Kennedy halves that I've seen are usually gold plated since the distortion of the manufacturing process causes the copper core to break through the copper-nickel outer clad layer. The gold plating at least gives it a uniform color.
