What Dansco's are you working on?

43 posts in this topic

I don't know if this topic has come up before. I noticed that we've had a couple of completed Dansco's come up this past week and it made me curious as to how many of you have Dansco's, how complete are they, and what type are they. These numbers would refer to date 2007. Here are mine:

Lincolns: I lack 23 coins to finish. I have 1934 to date completed. 92% complete

Buffalos: 65% complete.

Jeffersons: 64% complete

Roosevelts: 56% complete

Washingtons ((to 98'): 40% complete

Statehood Qtrs: 100% to date (no proofs)

Kennedy's : 21% complete

SBA's: 88% complete. Missing two, bet you can guess which two those are.

Sacs: 54% complete

SAE's: 100% complete

Prez Dollars: 100% complete to Date

Dansco 7070 Type Set

Jefferson Nickels 1938-Date (only missing the 2008 coins)

Good going on the jeffs there Chad. I would like to work on mine some more and see if I can't finish it. Are there any key dates that I have to worry about? Financially I mean.

I used to use a 7070, but I abandoned it in favor of a more customizable looseleaf binder. ;) I was nine coins from completion.

I have a Mercury dime one as well, I believe it is a little under half full.

I hope to get danscos for my classic commemoratives, morgans, and walkers, but with only 9, 9, and 7 coins respectively in each of those sets, they would look somewhat foolish. hm

I've just completed the proof/mintstate collection of modern commemorative dollars and I ordered the Iceland Leif Erickson and two replicas of the Layfayette dollar to fill in the two spaces at the end of each album.

I just finished the Barber quarter collection in my Dansco. The '01S and '13 S are replicas but look nice.

I have a completed Walker set half in mint state and circ Merc's except for the '16 D.

I'm selling a PQ set of Franklins right now on ebay along with a set of Ikes and Lincoln cents 1934-2001. x

None... I don't use Dansco albums!

Victor, why are you selling on Ebay Canada?

I'm just signed into it. Why? I don't know. I was led there by the hand as a child, innocent like. But I'm not selling on Canadian ebay--I hope! :þ

That's ok Scott. I shouldn't have made the topic so discriminatory. Any albums in the works or completed is fine. (thumbs u

Including Whitman albums as well, the ones I most frequently update are:

large-cents (date set, Whitman)

Liberty nickels (trying to complete my #2 set in AU and #3 set in G/VG)

Jefferson nickels (I have multiple sets going in multiple directions)

Roosevelt dimes (again, multiple sets with different focus for each)

Washington quarters (STILL dissatisfied with two coins in my #1 set)

Walker short-set (Whitman)

Kennedy half-dollars (set #2, Whitman)

two type sets (one toned AU/BU, one circulated)

Ike sets (multiples - I do these for resale)

Dansco?

I have a Buffalo set except for the 1918/7D and the 1937D 3leg. I will get both of them as soon as I can afford them.

The coins grade from Fine15 to MS66! Most of the pieces are XF or better.

The album I am using is a 50 year old "Library of Coins". I have only been working on the set for 4 years or so and many of the coins have taken on a nice amber color. Some of them have a nice blue tint as well.

I am working on a Standing Liberty quarter set also in a 50 year old "Library of Coins" album. The set is about 70% complete. The coins grade from XF40 to AU58. This set will never be finished because of the prices of the 1916 and 1918/7S.

I also have a Jefferson set in a 1968 "Library of Coins" album. All the coins are from MS60 to MS65+++. I haven't checked it lately to see if the coins are toning, though.

I did just buy a statehood quarter album filled up from 1999-2007 with mint set coins for the P&D, clad proof and silver proof all for $430. I'm not a modern nut but I think this is a sweet looking set. I think that I got a good price, too, considering the prices for the 1999 and 2001 silver proof sets.

I do like the state quarter albums filled with all four versions. It is one of my favorites. The Presidential album with proofs is similar and should be nice too.

I have and will continue to fill these by using the mint and proof sets.

It sounds like everyone has some pretty good albums going. I don't know about you, but these kind of take on thier own little challenge around normal buying of coins. I'm always looking at slabbed Jeffs and SAE's and other things of sort and then occasionally I look up at my albums and think, I need to still fill some of those holes.

Currently I have only one Dansco album complete and that is the Franklin Half fa Dollars. My father utilized either the older blue Whitman albulms or C\apitol Plastice for his coins. Following are my for transferring to Dansco.

Lincoln Cents - complete set through 1981 ( when my dad stopped adding to the album)

Buffalo Nickels - One short need the 1924 S

Mercury Dimes - One short need the 1916 D

Jefferson Nickels - through 1981

Peace Dollars - complete set

I have chosen to not continue with the Lincolns, Jeffersons and will end those albums where he stopped and well keep those. The Roosevelts I will keep in Capitol plastic and sell.

Well... since you are talking any album and not just Danscos:

Large Cent (Gardmaster Album): 55-percent complete (inactive)

Flying Eagle/Indian Cent (Library of Coins Album): Missing 1877 & 1909-S

Lincoln Cent (Whitman Album--all BU Red)[+]: Complete 1932+, 50-percent pre-1932

Liberty Head Nickels: missing 1885, 1886, 1912-S

Buffalo Nickels: missing 1913-S Type 2

Jefferson Nickels: 100-percent completed

Barber Dimes: 85-percent completed

Mercury Dimes: Missing 1916-D

Roosevelt Dimes: 100-percent completed

Barber Quarters: 64-percent completed

Standing Liberty Quarters: 63-percent completed

Washington Quarters: Missing 1932-S

Barber Halves: 50-percent completed

Walking Liberty Halves: Missing 1921 & 1921-D

Franklin Halves: 100-percent completed

Kennedy Halves: 100-percent completed

Morgan Dollars: 72-percent completed

Peace Dollars: 100-percent completed

Eisenhower Dollars[#]: 100-percent completed

Susan B. Anthony[*]: Missing 1979-S Type 2 Proof

Sacagawea Dollars: 100-percent completed

Presidential Dollars: 100-percent completed

American Silver Eagles (Littleton Album): 75-percent completed (I'm being lazy on this one)

[+] The only Lincoln album contains only BU coins (obviously, the 1943 steel cents are not red but are original BU).

[#] It would still be 100-percent if you count the blue and brown Ikes!

[*] I have the 1979-S Type 2 Proof, but it has a big scratch on the reverse that I do not like and did not put in the album.

And that is just the albums!! :headbang:
