A few suprises....overall I am happy with the grades and I have listed my guess beside each of the coins below. I call them guesses becuase I just haven't submitted a lot of coins before so I have seen plenty of coins in holders but I don't know exactly what the TPG's are looking for across all denominations (shrug) I got a decent amount of stars though I had a pair of toned rainbow halves that were identical and one got the star and the other didn't so that's strange hm Not one MS67 lol I thought 3 coins had a shot at MS67 but hey...them's the breaks (thumbs u

I also had my beautiful Morgan come back MS65* which was a suprise for me as I thought they would probably grade it MS64 no star.....it is an amazing coin and I picked it up raw on Ebay for $60 a few years ago :headbang:

So what I learned was that I am within one point up of down on the Dimes, Quarters, and Halves....which is good...... :cloud9:

But I obviously can't grade Nickels or Lincolns worth a darn lol Frankly I have never submitted a Nickel to a TPG and the Linolns I have sent in the past came back graded higher than what I thought so I must have been looking at these toners and became blinded by the color :makepoint:

Al in all I am real happy with the submission and I certainly had some nice suprises.....the no grade isn't a big deal.....cool color on the coin but I picked it up cheap on Ebay and think it probably should have graded but I do believe I know what the are talking about as their was a dark streak on the obverse that must have been the wheel mark hm

I have learned a lot and now each time I submit I will look the coins over with a discerning eye and jot down notes on how I grade them to continue to hone my skills.

Yes the chin scratcher is more neutral.....I don't feel bad about being one grade off......the best in the business can be plus or minus their grade gustimates so those don't bother me. If I am off by 2 grades or more....I know I need to re-evaluate my grading within that series......the Lincolns suprised me even after looking at the high res images again.....but hey they are toners so what the heck :bump:

Congrats...

I'm assuming this was the submission you posted the guess thread on, so it looks like 4 *'s and 0 67's was the right answer.....

Yes Mike...you are correct so thank you for brining it back up to the top.....we need to draw for a winner since 6 folks selected 4 stars.....now I just need to figure out the 6 doh!

Good going Shane! :applause:

I'm not at all surprised with the grading on the 1958 Lincolns and Jeffersons. Finding high grade toned examples of either is essentially impossible. I've been doing it for a long time and have found zip, zilch, nada.

I have a better batch of 1958's that came out of the unopened Mint sets I bought....not super color but a lot cleaner....Lincolns are probably in the 66RB neighborhood.......As far as the nickels....2 dogs and then two that Should FS...maybe 65's though......

So what I am finding mirrors your statement especially where the nickels are concerned....my goodness late die state is an understatment and they look like they went through a wood chipper to boot :o
