Good morning, guys.

Well, I'll take a stab at it but no laughing at Mr. Cataract if I get it wrong...

There's somehing about that 6 that I'm not nuts about. In the examples I squinted at in Breen, the center loop points in a downward direction. This example has the center loop pointing up. What are chances that it is a doctored 1858?

On the reverse, it shows the high leaf at the C, which Breen shows as an 1856 variety, but then there is an 1858 with the high leaf too. And...oh...what the heck...as long as I've stepped into it up to my elbows already...

The E in ONE is closed. As best as I can determine from the few photos I have, there is no closed E in the 1856's.

This is Not Doctored but does look to have some wear affecting its grade.

This is a holdered coin in a TOP 4 holder.

This coin has been thumbed, tooled, whizzed, cleaned, dipped, cooked, wiped, soldered, altered, buffed, cast, chopped, corroded, spent time in the ground and is being sold by a private listing vendor who's location reads ?????? ?????, China.

But its ok, its in a top 4

It's not that uncommon. I have an EF40 S-9 (proof). Seen plenty of circulated proofs while I was hunting for my 1856 FE. I actually wanted a business strike (S-3) but the price was right for the coin I bought.

Can't really tell from the small pic, but can't see the centering dot on the reverse. Yeah, PCGS and NGC do not differentiate proofs and business stikes for the 1856 FE. ANACS does.

On Teletrade now with documentation saying the following:

" Proof coin exhibiting some wear. This coin may have found its way into circulation in our Nations capitol, as it exhibits smooth even wear over both the eagle and wreath and sports a wispy russet tone on both sides. In the lower ranges of the Proof scale PCGS has certified 22 coins at this level with 492 finer, but this should not diminish the overall desire to own this example of the queen of Small Cents and the King of the Flying Eagle series. There were an estimate 1, 500 Proof coins minted for this date. Snow-3 - According to Richard Snow, the copper-nickel pieces struck from this die marriage are quite possibly the 300 to 500 examples sent to Congress in early February 1857. This coin is accompanied by an Eagle Eye photo certificate."

I thought it was c00l anyway as it does exhibit a DIFFERENT look. imho

Current Price $13,000
