Removing Solder from Gold Coins (Ex-Jewelry)

2 posts in this topic

Is there any way to remove solder from ex-jewelry Gold coins? My local coin dealer was not aware of any method, but it would seem to me that the melting point for the solder must be below the melt point for the gold, if so, is it possible to "bake" the solder off? Of course, I'm probably wrong and the melt point of the gold is below the solder, which would be problematic!

Does NCS remove solder as part of there restoration/conservation?
