1829 Half Dollar Die

Can anyone provide info on the following: I recently saw a very old iron tong tool

that had attached a die to produce an 1829 Half Dollar. The die appeared to be

either bronze or brass. I don't know if it was engraved or cast, but appeared very

detailed and a good copy. The tool was about 10-12" long, the dies were oval

shaped.

If the apparatus is vintage then it was nearly certainly made to produce counterfeit coinage.

There is no question it was vintage. Does something like that have

any value? If so,

Are both the obverse and reverse dies intact?

Yes, both obverse and reverse were in excellent shape. The iron handles

show significant age and wear - almost as if they were buried. Where

would one find a market for something like this?
