I need to know if any of the Lord of the Rings coins actually circulated as money?

I would find it hard to believe that these actually circulated. At least more than once that is. They are the type of coin that would get pulled as soon as someone noticed.

Condor, I know this is prehistoric but the answer is no, they did not circulate.

Thanks guys, I didn't know what the mintages for the base metal pieces were and I didn't know if they were released like our state quarters etc were. I didn't think so but the information on them was unclear. Thanks for confirmation that they are NCLT.

The mintages were

Light verses Dark 6 coin set 36,371

Fellowship of the ring 9 coin set 5,607

Character Collection 18 coin set 5,886.

All are cupro nickel.

 

I think the last commem to circulate in NZ officially was the 1953 Crown.

Thanks for those figures nunfa0 , i have the dark vs lite set and wondered , with those low mintage figures its a keeper.
