mint error or abuse victim?

'Afternoon, guys. I am spending some more time with magnifying glasses and my microscope today. I stumbled on this piece while looking at the results my very brief infatuation with Hard Times Tokens and Civil War Tokens (probably 20 years ago...). Anyway, I'm not sure why I put the large cent in there in the first place but the coin does seem to have some problems. Other than what appears to be "Small Pox" (or serious acne) on poor Ms. Liberty, I believe that Leprosy has also attacked the date. Where's the "1"? The rim is missing a nice chunk at 2:00 but shows no bulging material anywhere and the reverse shows no corresponding rim problem. Is she an abuse victim, or did something possibly get in the way during the minting process? What do you think??

The 1 appears to be a strike through, most likely. The rest of it is 162 years of abuse.
