Would this penny benefit from conservation?

2 posts in this topic

This is a penny I'm considering buying. It's graded NGC MS66RB. I noticed these two small spots and I was wondering (a) if they are left alone is there a chance of more problems down the line and (b) would conservation be able to remove them. leaving the rest of the (nice) surfaces intact? I'm much more concerned with preventing further damage than with changing the coin's appearance. Thanks.

Green on a copper coin are usually not a good thing. We have had success in removing green spots such as the ones your coin though I would have to see the coin in person to determine exactly how successful we may be. At the very least these spots could be reduced and steps will be taken to help prevent them from further growth.
