Conservation Suggestions for "Gilt Bronze"

I have a recently purchased medal that is apparently "gilt bronze". It has several areas of what I would call tarnish or darker looking areas. Any thoughts or suggestions on a safe and non-intrusive/destructive way to perhaps improve the overall look of this piece? What does or does not go well with bronze?

Rey,I don't think I would mess with it myself..

Bronze only oxidizes superficially; once the surface oxidizes, the thin oxide layer protects the underlying metal from further corrosion.

Rey, you could always submit it to NCS for evaluation and conservation.
