Beancounter - That's a really nice 1895-O Half; from the UMAKEM collection ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This post concludes my precertified Dime collection. Posting my new images has

been alot of fun and I hope everyone has enjoyed viewing them.

The next round of images will be later this Fall; I plan on having my Quarter

collection imaged - in small increments of 20 at a time.

Thanks, Beancounter.

All I can tell you is that the Dimes look alot nicer in hand.

My raw Dimes, which were recently holdered, are the equal

to the grades I've been posting for my precertified Dimes.

I ran a side by side "date & mint mark" comparison, ATS, and

my raw XF 45's compared very favorably with the AU 55's which

were precertified. The AU 53 & 55's were the equal to the AU 58's

precertified.

I saw this beautifully toned Quarter and just had to have it ....

Thanks Mike,

I am soon to be the proud owner of Mike's "Second set" of Barber Dimes. Now to call this set a second might suggest that it is just so, so. That is not the case here. Fifty wonderfully toned dimes including the 93/2 overdate, and they are all slabbed, it 's an exciting opportunity. Only twenty-five to go including the Micro O.

Any leads on toned AU dimes would be greatly appreciated.

I know you're going to love them, Joe.

I put that raw set together with the help of

David Lawrence while he was still active

in his business. He guided me for two years

and when he and his son, John, decided to

only handle certified coins, he called me to

offer me all the dates I still needed that were

in his inventory. I was thrilled. He also was kind

enough to let me pay over a few months time.

His kindness was never forgotten. After Dave

passed, I continued my relationship with DLRC

thru Win Callender. [ Win is no longer at DLRC

and now is a consignment director at Heritage ].

I know you'll enjoy this collection - just as much as

I have - just assembling it.

Don't worry, I'll guide you to any missing dates.

... just as long as they are not AU 58's ... and I need them too... lol

BTW - nice Nickel. Wonderfully struck Reverse. Congratulations.

Maybe now - with your new Dime set - I'll have a shot at all those

V Nickels you've been hunting down !!

BTW - here's the overdate you'll be getting !!

Now that the set is in "transfer mode"... I set up a set for you

to add to - as you've got a great start on the Quarters and are

about 95% complete on the Halves.

Once the transfer of ownership occours, this link probably won't work.

lol - not to worry... :o...the link doesn't work now !!

Joe - I'm very happy you're pleased with the Dimes. You would have

eventually kicked yourself if you had passed on the overdate.

Here's a newp that I want to cross into a PCGS holder....

1906-DHalfANACSAU50OBVcachet.jpg

I'm thinking it should get an XF 45 grade ATS...

Ten days without a post - sorry - where's Beancounter ?

Oh Yeah... he's setting up his new photostand - and I for one

am looking forward to some great images.

Ok Joe - get cracking !!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm off to FUN this week and plan on looking at the Heritage

display of the Dr. & Mrs. Steven L. Duckor Collection of

Barber Halves.

Here's a sampling:

1905-PHalfPCGS67.jpg

This coin was graded MS 68 +

Sort of puts a dimmer on my lowly AU 58....

I am in no way interested in purchasing the MS 68+

coin - its way beyond my means - I'm more than happy with :

I just received the images for 20 coins recently submitted to

Messydesk [ ATS ] - don't know if he posts here or not -

I just edited the 1892-S and 1893-P Quarters' images with

the Certificate inserts above the coins' images.

Here are two more coins that I did not have any images of at all:

1895-P - I purchased raw from JJ Teaparty in October 1998 -

and sent it [as well as most of my raw Quarters ] to ANACS -

[ just to make sure they would - certify - or not - before I

submitted them to a major TPG Service] . ANACS and PCGS

agreed with Liz & Gail - its an AU 58

1895-PQuarterPCGSAU58withCertificat.jpg

Here's the 1895-O - which I purchased from Bowers and Merena

back in December, 1998 - also the same senario - to ANACS for

a 58 - crossed to PCGS and received the same grade.

1895-OQuarterPCGSAU58withCertificat.jpg

Okay - I've played long enough -

I have a 5 hour drive ahead of me

to get to Orlando for the FUN show.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Up in Orlando and looking forward to FUN in the morning.

Its not as bad a drive as I remembered - only 3 1/2 Hrs.

Here's a couple of new images from my Quarter Collection:

I picked up the 96-O from Irv Reichel a few years ago - he

used to have a Registry set here. The 1898-S in PCGS 53

was a raw coin from Karen Johnson of L&C Coins in Calif.

and I submitted it to ANACS and it came back as a 53;

it crossed at PCGS. I feel its a 55, just my opinion.

The 1899-O - is something I picked up one and a half years ago

at Winter FUN from Sarasota Rare Coin in Florida. The coin has

far more luster than this image.

Comments welcome...

I found one Barber Half for my second tier set -

1899-O IN PCGS 53. Nice coin. From Julian Leidman.

I need to have it imaged.

Happy Hunting.

I bought this coin ten years ago from Win Callendar

when he was with DLRC [ he's with Heritage now FYI ]

It was in an ICG 58 holder at the time - and five years ago,

I submitted it to PCGS along with a large number of ANACS

graded Barber Quarters.
