I've been looking for this date for a while now. My goal was to find a high-end AU coin, but couldn't find one with this kind of strike.

Purchased from Dave Lawrence - raw - in 1995

Graded by Dave as an AU 55.

 

What was wrong with this one?

 

Your guess is as good as mine - I am just

sitting back and enjoying the images of my

ex-raw coins now in holders - and when the

No Grades come back - I'll re-evaluate them;

I may send some back in and see if they get

a grade.

 

A few of the coins that didn't holder three years

ago for Altered Surfaces - because of the vivid toning -

have now been holdered. Go figure.

 

My feeling is that the graders had to see the entire set

in front of them so they could see the toning progression.
