White( or mostly white) and original coin.....what's the oldest date?

Upon removal of all the papers, on the bottom of the drawer, just lying loose, were 25 1878-S Trade Dollars! As wonderful as this seemed, there was a dilemma. Were the coins "financial " and thus property of the university, or were they personal and thus the property of "Jim." After long discussions with the attorneys, it was decided that the coins would be divided equally - with 13 coins going to the university and the remaining 12 coins to "Jim."

Allow me to point out to those of you who have a lot of valuable coins: see how much easier it would have been for "Jim" if the will had simply spelled out what was to be done with the coins? The neighbors may have wanted him to have all 25 coins.

When we all kick off, if we have any amount of money still in our collections, it is imperative that we (a) spell out exactly what our heirs are getting; (b) how much it is worth (approximately); © how it is to be distributed; and (d) how they may best go about selling it if that's what they want to do. Anything else is just flat-out irresponsible.
