Mexican Caballito

The Standard Catalog of World Coins by Krause & Mishler is the standard reference for world coins. It's a collection of telephone book-size volumes by century (20th/21st in one volume updated yearly, earlier centuries updated less frequently, pricing information is questionable in some areas, and as I do not collect Mexican coins I have no idea how accurate the prices are in that section.).

The 2003 edition lists two 250 peso proofs dated 1985, as follows:

KM#500.2, 8.64g .900 gold, .250 oz. AGW,, mintage 4,506, value $110

and

KM#506.2, 8.64g .900 gold, .250 oz. AGW,, est. mintage 80,000, value $115

The subject of both is the 1986 World Cup Soccer Games. #500.2 has a reverse design incorporating a soccer ball as it's central image, and #506.2 has a reverse design with a man on horseback.

Welcome aboard!
