Here’s one that might be controversial. NGC graded this 1913 Type I nickel as Matte Proof - 66. Dave Bowers claims that any genuine Matte Proof buffalo nickel should have bright, Proof bright edges, but one can’t see that on this one because of the holder. What do you think?

 

The coin is toned to an even gray with subdued luster. The look is consistent with a business strike or the other Matte Proofs I have seen or sold. hm

This in not a MS70 job. :þ The toning changes with the lighting angle and radiates from within, not from without.
