Hi,

I just found 1990-D quarter with a smooth edge. Quick search tell me is supposed to be reeded .? is this an error, error in my search ? Common? Maybe it doesn’t look like it got wear enough to completely lose the reeds,

I believe many coins that are used in slot machine-type devices will have their edges smoothed out over time. This is often seen on late date JFK halves, though the coins also appear a bit chippy from use.
