Ms Liberty's nose job goes bad.

12 posts in this topic

Good morning, guys.

I am posting a picture of a large cent I picked up recently on E-Bay. It struck me because of the nose. I have looked at enlarged pictures and under magnification and it doesn't look tampered with to me. There is no obvious scratching or surface damage in the nose area. My guess is that the die became filled with grease or something that prevented complete impression. What do you think, if I may impose.

Hope everyone is well. Sunny and cool here in the RI sticks. Tomatoes and pepper plants got frozen Sunday night so that's it for the veggie garden.

Hi, jman.

I'd like to see your 1853 dollar if/when you have a moment to scan it. Rumor has it that my Ms Liberty is getting a lawyer for her botched Beverly Hills plastic surgery. Maybe yours could join in and they can do a "class action". I tried to post a larger picture by adding more pixels....hope it worked...otherwise I don't know how to enlarge stuff yet.

That is weird. My only concern is that it might be a well placed gouge - post mint. It would have to be old, because I don't see a whole lot of displaced metal, which means it might have gotten worn down. I am not saying this is the case, just conjecturing.
