Error Lincoln penny

2 posts in this topic

I have in my possession a 1971 D Lincoln Penny error coin. the word "LIBERTY" is "LLBERTY. I thought maybe it was an I with a cud error at the bottom, but upon closer examination, I noticed that it acutally is a second L. I am trying to find a camera that I can borrow from someone, to take pictures that I can submit on this post. Until then can anyone tell me if they have heard of such an error, and can you tell me if this is a realitively common error.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give in this matter.

I will try to post a pic as soon as I can get my hands on a digital camera.

A die crack, chip, or gouge is possible, a true second L is not. Since all dies come from the same master hub if one die had a second L they would all have one.
