Just an Old Nickel

6 posts in this topic

Somehow, this relates to what my mom recently told me. She said that the new owners to the farm house, I grew up in, found a nickel in the attic while insulating and sold it for $600. My mom asked if it could have been mine. I replied that I didn't have anything worth that much back then and why would I put any coins in the attic. I"m not certain what type of nickel it was but the house was close to 100 years old when we lived in it. My guess is, whoever did the original insulation back when, must have dropped a nickel out of his pocket. Could it have been a high grade Liberty nickel or an early dated Buffalo nickel. It does spark the curosity though but I doubt I'll ever hear the rest of the story.
