My uncle gave me this about 20 years ago. I thought it was pretty cool. The reverse is pushed in to make it look like the head is popping out. Actually the head is glued on.

I have seen similar pieces many times, although I have never seen one that was glued on. Usually, the obverse central device is literally pushed out from behind to give a 3-D effect. I have seen these items sell for $10-$30, depending on the visual effect.

Tom, no there is no "s". That was the first thing I looked for. It was a very nice AU with red and purple accents though.
