PORN is popping up in at least some eBay coin searches as of this morning

15 posts in this topic

I got on eBay and did a search for 1894 Indian head cents, and lo and behold, an explicit porn offering popped up, entitled "MY GIRL WILL DO EVERYTHING, EVEN SWALLOW", and included was an explicit image.

I've reported the incident to eBay, including copies of the screen images displaying the inappropriate listing. If you run across similar problems, please report them. I know that many kids browse the coin listings and don't need to be exposed to this sort of activity.

He did search in just the coins catagory. In fact his search was just in the small cents from 1859 to 1879 subcatagory. (Why he was looking for 1894 in 1859 - 79 I'm not sure. :) )

Those listings show up from time to time all over eBay. They seldom last long before eBay nukes them

Actually, there was a reason! An 1894 that I had gotten outbid on was in that wrong category, and I wanted to see if there might be others that could go "under the radar".

Difficult to determine if you are bragging or complaining ?

Only you would consider this "bragging" I think. What precisely would he be bragging about? He isn't the one that listed it, he just saw it (and clicked on it apparently).

Some were showing up the other day as featured auctions. That must have cost a bit.
I doubt it was their money. I'd give odds to a stolen account or credit card.

Junk like this should be eliminated and I think the people who put junk like this on ebay and similar should be eliminated.

I will be truthful with everyone here that I do like porn, but not when I'm looking for coins. I don't collect coins because I find them sexy and I do agree with everyone that things like this should be banned from ebay.

It was a phishing scam that has been going on through ebay for over a year. The "seller" redirects your browser and you must login again to view the auction, thereby giving away your ebay ID and password. If anyone fell for this they should immediately change their ebay password and think about monitoring their ebay-linked credit card.
