A correspondent asked if there were new information about the Buffalo nickel in the 1909-1915 book.

 

There are a bunch of interesting details and observations about the buffalo nickel design.

 

One of the interesting bits is a photo of a Native American posing for sculptor James Fraser. The artist is shown sculpting a bust of the model. The model and sculpture look a lot like the image on the Buffalo nickel. The photo dates from 1910 and has never been published before.
