hello all! i know that morgan and peace dollars have 'vam' types assigned to different years and mints. i was curious to know if something similar may apply to indian $2.50 gold pieces? what about something that would qualify for entry into the cherrypickers' guide books? thanks in advance for all comments.

VAM is simply a designation for a die pair or die state and is the same concept as the Overton numbers given to early half dollars (1794-1836), or the JR, LM, B or BB numbers given to other early series of half dollars, minor coinage and early dollars. If anyone has done research into the diagnostics of the die pairs for quarter eagles then there might be a reference out there, but I have not heard of such a reference.
