Take a crack at this dark toned 1814 single leaf bust half

6 posts in this topic

I posted this ATS but wanted my friends here to look at this coin also for their thoughts.

This one is a dark toned 1814 O-105a single leaf R4+.

Edgar Souders writes in his Top 100 R4 and R5 RAG that most survivors of this marriage are in the AG to Fine grade.

Let me point out that the coin does appear to be crusty to the point of corrosion around the periphery though, especially on the reverse.

Opinions?

Thoughts?

Grade?

Yes this was a cherrypick.

Hey MBA1, thanks for the spankin

I had to throw a lot of light on this coin because of the dark toning and made it look polished. It isn't. I dug out my old Nikon 4200 and took a couple quick pics to show the suface better. Sorry guys for the first set of pics.

Are these pics in B&W?

Anyway, that is a really cool coin, and I would bet that PCGS/NGC would likely grade it XF45.
