NGC - Worst website I have visited

10 posts in this topic

I have never visited a website that is more difficult to navigate than the NGC one.

When after 10 minutes of trying I eventually found what I was looking for (South African coins) I tried to determine the grading figures of well-known coins. Even the word “Mandela” gave me NOTHING when I tried to search that. The other words for SA coins sound like they were named by space visitors.

I called a friend of mine who is an Internet Website specialist, but even he gave up after another 15 minutes.

What insufficiently_thoughtful_person designed the NGC website and navigating tools?

in my opinion NGC is one of the most reliable and user friendly website i've ever been on. remember most submissions to NGC are US coins. so ngc doesnt do AS much with world coins there for making it a bit harder to navagate

I haven't found the NGC site to be overly difficult. If you know about the Registry, it should have been very easy to find the census for South African coins. Failing that you could have always done a Google search on [site:ngccoin.com mandela].

Bonjour Pierre, :hi:

Welcome to the boards. Sorry to hear you having such a difficult time navigating the site.

If you’re looking for your ex President Mandela you may not find him on the forums for he would likely have a user name to protect his identity and any other information the boards have on him would be privately kept by the forum administrators. I believe if you hang around a bit you may figure out which user name he is using.

I do not understand what you mean by

What kind of (sounds) noises were they? (shrug)

However I can certainly understand your suspicions because we do occasionally have visitors from other planets.

So, hang around, ask questions, and enjoy the forum. (thumbs u

You apparently had a problem but it is an aberation. I too collect South African coins but only the ZAR and Union, not any of the RSA. I have tried to look for the Mandela coin and also cannot find it. But this is the only coin that I recall trying to find in the census that I did not see listed when I happen to know there are many of these graded because I have seen them offered for sale many times. (It is generally known that the census is not complete. I have coins that are not included but the certification number can be verified.) But finding the census for South Africa coins is not diffiicult.

In my case, I wanted to see how many Mandela coins were graded to try to understand how in the world those coins could possibly cost as much as they do.

The people who run and sponser this site are a lot more friendly that the guys "across the street." I never "got the boot" over there because I guess I'm not very important, one does have to really watch what they say there. Here, there is a lot more freedom to give honest opinions.
