Please look at this coin on eBay

I've looked at a lot of 1892 s Morgans in au50. This particular one looks very suspicious. I have an xf45 slabbed by PCGS that looks much nicer than this one. It even looks like it has hairlines from cleaning. Is it possible that the coin is in a counterfeit PCGS holder?

"Nicer" and "higher grade" are often two different things. You could have a nicer XF45 that is simply a bit more worn whereas the AU50 could be less worn but, say, an ugly color.

 

This often happens with AU58 vs MS63. You could have a nicer AU58 that has just some rub whereas the MS63 could be lackluster with lots of marks but be MS nonetheless.

The posted coin appears overgraded in a PCGSAU50 slab from the picture. Too much wear on the eagle. Appears to be a nice XF plus.
