Based solely on the pictures I would have guessed an old cleaning. You have the coin in hand so I'll default to your description. I think it now has excellent eye appeal.
I assume you mean dipped....I agree.Even though that's been cleaned and is now retoned I find it quite attractive.jom

JimJum, I like the look of that half!

Quick payment from Jimbucks. Thanks!

I believe that you could order single coins and the octagonal was more popular so more were made. That's why the round has a lower mintage.
-
Boiler that is one wonderful coin. That is one if my all time favorites and even though the round is rarer had I the money I would own the octagonal myself.

I like the color Yoni.

Just got my 1911 MPL in hand. I can see why it is designated as BN on the label. I will have to say that the coin, at least the color, looks nothing like the True View in hand. So for those of you who are not fans of the True View, here is another to add to your ammunition.
Here are some quick shots that I took, the color is much closer to my images, I would say exactly but I'm partial, maybe even a little darker.
True View images are first then mine.

It's in a 64BN holder but it's more of an RB I feel.

The only thing definitely genuine about the original posters dollar is that it is a fake and not a very good one either. I would suspect that the story told to you is almost if not equally as fake. Try sticking a magnet to it, silver is not magnetic and I'm betting this coin is made of some sort of base metal.

Martin both those pieces are just absolutely wonderful!

Great coin Boiler. I've missed seeing your newps. Glad you're back in the game!

I believe I have seen that Busty in person. If it's the one I remember the obverse has much more green than shown. Martin has excellent taste in coins and purchased many from Mark Feld. This may be one of those. I'll have to look through my photo archives, I may have some alternate pictures of this one. If I do, I'll forward them to you and see if they are acceptable to you.
