Lol it's actually a popsicle stick I found in my yard. It's been in the elements a bit.

This scale is great for finding the 1983 transitional error copper penny, as well as other transitional copper errors.

Thank you all for all the comments, they help. Would it be worth putting the funds towards getting this coin graded ?

It would if they plated it with nickel.
No the silver war nickels are in the 9.25 to 9.32 range. 9.662 would make them less than the regular CuNi alloy. You don't swap out lower density copper and nickel for higher density silver and have the SG go down. Yes the manganese will off set it a little but not that much.
And the 4.87 was the weight of the nickel not the density. His measured density was 8.54 g/cm^3 which is still too low.
Hello there. If it was electroplated with nickel, would the overall Density be lower ?

Would an electroplating make the silver nickels magnetic ? Here is a nice article about a zinc plated steel 1944 P that was found. The 2 Franc planchets where used in Philadelphia during 1944. https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/1944-p-5-coin-struck-on-zinc-coated-steel-pla.html

Is it a coin I should pay to have graded?

Hello there coin World. I have a few questions about a magnetic 1944 Nickel. It has a low Density of 8.54 compared to the normal 9.25 of the Wartime Nickels, it is also magnetic.

This is a great type of scale to separate Copper Lincoln cents, from clad Lincoln cents.

I hear ya although in order to identify the 1983 copper cent transitional error a scale like this works great.
