  1. I'm finding that out about all the variations. I am looking for an 1858 penny but not at that price. When looking at these eBay prices/auctions I get the sense some of these sellers are thinking "there's a sucker born every minute". Some of these prices are ridiculous.
  2. Sorry about that. I've been looking at so many coins I forget what I've questioned previously.
  3. I can't find any info on this coin. Is it real or a damaged coin. I magnified it to 350% and it looks like the 5 is damaged like the N in Cent. Am I right or am I missing something. It's from https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1858-Canada-One-Cent-Shortened-5-Die-Variety/131323155598?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180105095853%26meid%3D44b4447bff3c483485fdc4b12fdd1e01%26pid%3D100903%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D20%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D131323155598%26itm%3D131323155598%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2510209&_trksid=p2510209.c100903.m5276
  4. I just came across two Canadian pennies from 1957 and they are silver in colour. Are these real or a fashion design?
  5. Thanks for the info. I thought it was strange that it didn't appear to look like it was copper compared to other pennies and there a lot of other 1858's there as well. Is there a dictionary of coin lingo around to help figure things out?
  6. I didn't buy it I was wondering what the phrase was. Here's the posting. Is it worth it? https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1858-Canada-One-Cent-Shortened-5-Die-Variety/131323155598
  7. I'm new to this and have at least one question right now. What does "Shortened 5 Die Variety" in the description of a coin mean? Is there someplace I can find all these definitions?
