Jeff, I truly love RE halves and think they are one of the backwaters (in a good way) of US coinage. (thumbs u
-
I remember those WLHs and I also remember thinking that all AU58 coinage should look so pristine.
-
That is an amazing accomplishment and something worthy of the finest cabinet. (thumbs u

What's the story on that one, IGWT? It's fantastic!

I absolutely love your Columbian half, awb!!!

I believe the piece that Rey is showing was often included in the S-Mint US Mint Sets as an extra medal.

Nice type II, Boiler!
-
Boiler, that is truly amazing. Was it the set from Joe O'Connor?
-
Chad, the 1837 RE looks gorgeous! (thumbs u

The 1914-S quarter appears to have been polished. NCS should be able to remove the PVC from the 1897-O dime, but it also looks like it might be hairlined a bit much.

Those ultra cam proofs from the '60s look wonderful and appear to be very reasonably priced.

My favorite rendition of the Seated Liberty design after it was taken from the Gobrecht dollar-

Beautiful US Mint Set, SkyMan.

I was expecting you to pick up that 1912, Lee. (thumbs u Elbesaar, does the Barber have a reverse?

That pretty much sums up the idea of polishing; it moves metal and also creates an odd surface. You have made a good choice, in my opinion, if you return a coin such as this since it will always be tough to move.

The Delaware has been dipped, but the Oregon looks polished. There is a big difference between the two if this is the case since the hobby-industry accepts dipped MS silver while it rejects polished coins.
-
Your Oregon looks polished.

If you like the history behind the commems, stgecko, then get ready to read about the Cincinnati.

This is a Gallery Mint Museum piece struck specifically for the 1999 ANA and presented to exhibitors and judges. It is 38mm, which is the size of a silver dollar, and weighs 1.5 ounces of silver. Therefore, it is pretty darn thick. Only 150 were produced and it came with a deep maroon presentation box with gold leaf fringe and maroon velvet lining-

Holy Smokes, Bill!!! (thumbs u

That looks like a nice F15 Barber half.
-
I don't know that anyone could put a damper on what appears to be at least a Ch EF and likely an AU 1901-S Barber quarter.
-
Boiler, that is an absolutely incredible half-dime!!! Not only are these pieces tough to find in higher grades, but it seems that most were struck in an insufficient manner that rendered large portions of the eagle as a blob. That is a beautiful coin.

Branching out, Toyo?

Try to find any 1839-O with original skin and you will quickly find out what a maddening series this short set can become.
