  1. Still new to this. My question is should I build a Proof or MS collection? Pros and cons to each? What does everyone else do?
  2. Can someone clarify for me the weights? All 1982 pennies are either 3.1g or 2.5g. What is the significance of the 3.07 weight of the 2 that have been verified? Also is it only D mint mark?
  3. This is PCGS photo of a certified MS66. Can you explain to me the differences that I'm not seeing. Also there's a better picture of mine.
  4. Just looking for opinions on this coin. As far as the grading company, I can't find anything on them. The coin itself looks great. I paid $11.40 for it. Whats your thoughts.
  5. Just curious, I got an offer on ebay to buy 100 ungraded slabbed coins for $73 including shipping ad says ".......BU, Proof and circulated coins"
  6. I've done a Google search and a current ebay search for this year errors and came up with nothing
  7. I was thinking that way. By lucrative I guess I mean the value to my children. Like the 90% silver category, say start with the half dollar denomination or dollar denomination. Ive been around it my whole life my dad was a collector be it through circulated coins but still filled books with them. I never really picked it up until I started playing around in the silver market and acquiring a third of his collection it kind of triggered a big interest, especially in the higher end/precious metals side as well as the rarity side of things.
  8. I kmow this is all opion based but as a newcomer, what types of coins do you think would be the most rewarding, fun to hunt and lucrative for a later date to collect. I want to narrow down to a few types to focus on to begin with. Do you guys focus on certain types/denominations or just us coins in general? Graded, upgraded, slabbed, raw etc..... Just looking for input and opinions
  9. Here's a few. I feel the jefferson, Washington and franklin are proof, so not sure if grading is worth it if they are.
  10. Hello, I'm new to collecting. My father collected for years just sifting through circulated coins. I just recently fell into collecting almost accidentally, in part by acquiring a 3rd of his collection and the other because of buying and selling silver bullion on ebay. Combine the 2 and im now addicted to coin collecting. My question is how can someone new judge if a coin should be submitted for grading. I recently acquired some coins from 4th tier grading companies (some Google can't even find) the coins have higher grades but look as though they would grade fairly well. I also have some raw coins that I feel will grade well also. I just don't want to submit for grading only to find out i just spent all those submission fees on a $10 coin. Thank you in advance for your responses.
