  1. I have a gold "Caciques de Venezuela" coin given to me as a gift when leaving the employment of a company based in Venezuela where I was working in the summer of 1981. It weighs 7.80 grams and is 26.3 mm in diameter, 900 fine gold ("900 LEY" on reverse). It has never been worn as jewelry or circulated. It was bought new by my company at a jewelry store in Maturin, Venezuela, and I still have the box it came in. This coin was one of a series of coins commemorating the indigenous Caciques (chieftains) of Venezuela in the 16th century (1501-1600) - "siglo XVI" as written on the reverse. Several coins honoring various chieftains were minted, and each type came in various sizes. The coin I have honors Terepaima, a chieftain of that era who died in the year 1568. Apparently, some of these coins were minted in Caracas, and some in Switzerland. I believe this to be the version that was minted in Switzerland, as I have seen this identical coin with a different reverse side, with that version having the inscription "ACUÑADA EN CARACAS" (coined in Caracas) on its reverse. So, my question is, would NGC grade this coin, or is this outside of the universe of coins they grade? Does anyone have an opinion regarding the marketability of this coin, outside of its melt value?
  2. Thanks, ELuis. What about the $5.00 "return mint packaging" fee? Do I need to pay that for GSA holder submissions?
  3. Hello, I am brand new to NGC, and am about to make my first submission, which is a 1884-CC Morgan dollar in the original GSA holder. I have a few questions: 1: Do I need to check the "return mint packaging" and pay the extra $5.00 fee? 2: I assume (hope) that the coin is graded in the original holder without removal, and returned in the original holder? 3: Do I need to include the outer box, and certificate, or just the coin in its holder.? I also have the original invoice from GSA from 1980 if needed. 4: I am paying by Visa credit card, and noticed on the form that the 3 digit "security code" on the back of the credit card is not asked for. Do I need to provide it anyway? 5: So, for shipping to NGC, do I simply need to include the coin in its holder (and box, COA, and GSA invoice?), and the filled out submission form? This is my first submission, and wanted to double-check on the proper procedure. Thanks for hopefully answering my newbie questions. I have attached a composite image of both sides of the coin in the holder. These were taken on a flatbed scanner at 2400 DPI.
