The scale that it is sitting on says it weighs 3.01g. Within tolerance for a copper cent.

The last coin posted is a small date.
Yay I've got 2 of them now what do I do with them? Pay $25 to have them graded and I've seen posts where people send off their coins and after 3 months still haven't heard anything

This has to be one of the most asked questions on any coin forum and so far they have all been 100% wrong. No 1982D copper cents have been found.
Melissa, in order to help you identify your 1982D cents, look at the following photo. Personally for a quick identification, I just look at the distance of the 2 from the rim but you can also tell by the shape of the 8 and the 2.
I finally got that pic thank u. That helps so much

Thank u.I read everywhere that vinegar and water cannot hurt a copper penny.apparently they are full of .that makes me sad that I ruined my oldest penny but I do still have my steel 1943 penny lol.I'm really interested in pennies.I thought that it was way too much for me to remember every type of coin and every error but I stuck to pennies for some reason.they're more interesting

Thanks everyone so much.I like what was said about finding a penny worth more than 250,000 on heritage auction because my kids are teenagers and they giggle is mom playing with her pennies again lol.I'm like yes I am and my granny makes fun says I'm wasting my time but I can't wait sometimes to go to a store or McDonald's just so I can get change and look at them.I had a girl tell e one time really u collect pennies I normally just throw them away and my heart sank.ii told her u can't do that lol.it is an interesting Hobbie and I don't have much money being a single mom so I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be cool to fund one worth enough to change my kids life's right now.the oldest coin I own is 1939 nickel and 1947 wheat penny

Are the only real valuable wheat pennies the 1909,1943 copper and the 1955 Philadelphia mint dd
