Good evening all! I got a couple ASEs back today from grading and was surprised to find that one of them is definitely an off center strike on the reverse, ide Guage it about 15 degrees..... im not sure I've ever seen the topic brought up in ASE world before. I have other coins that are clearly off center. I feel like I want to send these back in and have them labeled as such, but they are fairly high dollar coins and I am afraid it will hurt the value. Is this something I should look at and consider a rarity, since the ASE and West point mint are known for quality, that will raise the value or hurt it? I am afraid to show the front because ide like to be credited with being the first to report the attribution.... any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also, look at the differences in the J, the top portion varies on both alot.... def both hand signed is my opinion.

Yours is the top for reference.... and looking at the thikness of the lines comparatively, though a little blurry ide say we both got hand signed. And I had a feeling that there would be a larger number of these that came back less than 70. I've been seeing some numbers come back and im super excited I got 70uc on all of my submissions.

Yours is tilted slightly but I cropped it and magnified it... you can see how the sigs don't lign up. They may be both hand signed or one of each. I just know what an autosig looks like, from all of my art I collect and memorabilia. There won't be bleeding and breaks in the sig like in mine under the microscope. The changing thickness of the lines and the pull off marks won't be there on an autosig.

A further update for you guys since I know this was a hot topic on release... there is no way short of putting your cert under a microscope to tell if its hand signed. You can clearly see the stroke marks from hand signed like on mine. I dont have any to compare but I believe the others are autopenned.

I buy most from the mint direct and send to grade but there are 2 shops here close to me that sell 99% of their stabbed eagles at spot prices. I've gotten some valuable (by the book) slabs from them. I dont understand those that do it that way.

I'll keep sending mine in, you win some and you lose some and if you get lucky you make a little money down the road but you always have great coins. Here are 2 of the rarer modern eagles, that I'm glad I got.

Got them in today, it was def smudges on the holder. Coins are perfect. Can't wait for the medals to come in!

It was the first time I paid for the pictures and I thought they would at least make sure the holder was wiped down and looking good for the pics....thats why I'm afraid its the coin. But they did do is super fast so maybe they just rushed it!

I overnighter them there and used ex, but they did it in a day. Super fast.

I decided to send the eagles in and not wait on the medals.... the ASE is posted already! I hope those are smudges on the holder and not the infamous "milk spots" but I wont know until I get it back. They haven't done the gold yet but the silver was super fast.

Send express and pay the little extra you will for sure be happy. Mine is already being shipped back. Check my pics tho, these may suffer from the "milk spot" issue!!! I'm hoping those are just smudges on the holder but I can't tell untill I have it in hand.

They are taking longer to ship the medals, I may have to just submit the gold and silver eagles on their own so I dont mess the 7 day deadline. I expected the medals to arrive today hut they still haven't shipped.

Yes they are, but you can't submit mixed on the same invoice as far as I know. Thats why I was going to try and match the invoice numbers on different invoices.

Oh that makes sense! The plan was to have the gold and silver with the same matching certs, so ill submit on 2 separate orders and try to make the invoice #s match!

Hello all! I recently submitted my first batch of coins and got amazing results! I got all 70s on the basketballs, 2 of each and I couldn't be happier. I was lucky enough to get all of the V75 eagles!!!! What are the chances I can get NGC to send them back with all matching or close to matching #s? Is there a chance? Should I just write it on the form and pray? Should I call in and try to sweet talk the reps? If I could get matching #s on the entire set it would be the most epic thing ever. Let me know what you guys think!

And are these worth sending in to grade? Does NGC pr other TPG grade toned coins or are they considered "damaged?

I am still learning a lot here and from what I understand this is a very heated topic so here goes. My father collected coins in the 50s and 60s. He placed a lot of his coins in old small yellow envelopes and bank bags he had. Now when I finally got them, they are all toned beautiful colors. I took them to a local shop and the guys laughed at me and put my father down saying they are artificial. So my question is, the coins have been in bags for 50, 60+ years and not touched, how is that artificial toning or any different from them sitting in a vault for the same amount of time?

And just to clarify, the monster box #400000, was purchased for 13k, sold to modern coin mart for well over 100k. Of the box only 244 graded 70, the rest 69 or less. Under this logic, the last year of the silver eagle, from this box, in an MS70 has a pop of 244. Again, lowest pop of any ASE and if anyone wants to complete a set registry.... well they most likely wont be able to. I have a few I was able to get early under an arrangement.

Definitely command a huge premium, and 1 of 244 is a very limited run rarity. 1/1000th of the total pop. Add mercanti sig and FDI, this will surpass the 95w and 2015p. They sold out in a day and were only offered through 1 company to their exclusive clients. What say you all?
