Thanks Brandon.
Yonico - That is one groovy Washington. I can dig it!

1937 King George V and Queen mary Silver Jubilee medal.
Although I am getting better with Brandons Photo Pointers, this example really looks much better in hand. Beautiful piece.

I know that a great amount of what I post in this thread is esoteric but, none the less, some of it can be pretty nifty too!
I saw this on eBay and just had to have it. A number of folks had it in their watch list (probably in hopes of a price drop) but I once again said the hell with the price, as I far to often do.
This is a 1917 World War I Photo Coin/Medal/So Called Dollar - Not exactly sure how to classify it, but as you can see, it opens up to allow a small photo to be inserted. This one apparently was never used.
The coin is 33mm (or just smaller than a Morgan Dollar) and 14.3 grams, even though it is hollowed out.

Sweet Peace Dollars. That 64 is better looking than the 66 imo
Happy Birthday Lee!!

A couple new purchases.
The 1889 National Centennial is in white metal and although the silver wash has nearly disappeared it is still showing around the letters. However, the coolest feature of this piece, in my opinion, is that the original 5" x 4 mm red, white, and blue ribbon is still attached and in good condition.
The other pickup that I really like is a 1968 - 300th Anniversary set of the first mission on Guam that contains four medals in silver, silver wash, gilded, and finally antique bronze, which is by far my favorite of the the four, and pictured here.
Some may not know where or what Guam is (the Social Security Administration did not know and claimed I was not a citizen of the U.S.A, believe it or not). Guam is a United States Territory and therefore anyone born in Guam is a U.S. citizen. The medals were minted in 1968, which was one year before my dad was stationed in California and my family moved close to Beale AFB.
Guam is on my bucket list. I intend to return to visit the place I was born before I finally buy the farm.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.........

Congrats everyone some very nice additions (thumbs u
I agree Irvin. Some very nice picks.
I think this one has a little more color. Just another common date Morgan.
-
Picked up a couple common date Morgans for pretty cheap. This is one. Might have some potential to tone nicely in the future.
Don't have the other in hand yet to take a picture. I think it is a bit better than this one.

Shout out to Jackson.
Excellent packaging and the merchandise is quality. Thanks my friend!

Not a coin but a small medal. I am color blind so it may not look as good to others as it does to me but I was very happy when this arrived and it looked equally as good under my camera, as it did under the sellers camera.
I must be dislexic as well since I just noticed I should have put Ft. Sumter on the left and Bull Run on the right.

More Additions
And my last addition that I wanted to share is my prized addition and nothing is worth more than him. my son Preston.
What a proud moment for you. Congratulations!
There are a few things I will never forget in my life and holding my newborns in my arms is one of those moments.

Picked this up in the latest Legend Auction. I think it went a little under the radar with all the Sunnywood toners being auction. MS67 FB.
Joe that is a nice looking Mercury. I think you need crack the case a bit and get it to tone. Someone paid $3,055.00 for this 67FB PCGS.

Reliving the late 60's and early 70's with that roosie.
Nice!

I keep expecting someone to call me out on all these 'make believe' (counterfeit) DCarr coins I am posting. -
I never made a rule against it.

Very Nice 35 Peace Dollar.
On the reverse, under the 'O' of 'ONE' there looks to be a very pronounced die scratch. Is that possibly a photographic aberration or something in the slab?
If it is a die scratch, I did not see a VAM listing for a 35-P with that particular die scratch in the descriptions so maybe something to look into if it is indeed a die scratch.

Nice medals! I will have to start checking this thread more often if
you guys are going to post stuff like that.
Here is one that arrived today.
Absolutely. Nice to change the pace from time to time and that 3D London 1886 - Whew!!!

Add a couple more with Theodore Roosevelt (one of the most influential non-wartime presidents in my opinion) as the theme.
Two are from the newer 2013 Theodore Roosevelt Chronicles Set ( you can easily tell what is what) and the other is somewhat of a mystery to me. It seems to have been an awarded smaller medal (About the size of a silver dollar) from the Police Commissioner Benevolent Assn and looks to be a 1919 issue. I will have to read some more on Roosevelt and see exactly what this is since I searched and searched for another example before buying this one, yet came up empty handed.
Possibly someone that is more knowledgeable about this might know of its origin, reason, and possibly even mintage issued.
And the one in question.

I think you have one to many 1864's therefore I will take that top one off your hands if you don't mind.
Nice Indians.
-
BTW, looks like there were 2 obverse dies for the U.S. Capitol medals! Very nice.
You are correct. One is the 'Small Letters' and the other is the 'Large letters' .... I just wanted both of them. They are rather common I believe.
I have the alternate Centennial medal on its way in three different metal compositions. It is a much better looking design that the one pictured previously in my opinion.

Love that seated half.
Joe knows how to pick them. I, too, really like the seated half.
Bill, those are going to look nice in that new coin cabinet!Thank you and I agree..... can't wait. If I never see another slabbed coin in my collection I will be a very happy man.
-
Just a few new medals I am collecting.
-
My first Seated Half! For my 7070 set.
And you chose a doozy for the first one. That Seated Half has good strike in most places.
Very nice looking coin(s) that have been posted.

Joe, best be careful. Collecting that gold can be addicting. Look at Bill Jones.
