  1. I am 68 and my journey started in 1959.  I was playing at the fire escape at school (it was a big tube that went up to the 2nd and 3rd floor that if there was a fire you could slide down the tube!  What fun!).  I found two pennies and both had Lincoln on the front but each one had different reverses.  This intrigued me and got me started collecting.  Funny how most of us started with the Lincoln Cents.  My mom bought me one of the blue folders to keep my pennies in and the only one I didn't have was the 1909 S-VDB.  Still to this day I do not have that coin!!  One of these days I'm going to bust out the money to buy one!!  My most valuable Lincoln Cent was a 1941 PF67 RD Lincoln cent, NGC graded, CAC certified.  I finally sold it.....wish I hadn't!!!  Happy Collecting to all of you.  It's still a great hobby!!!

  2. I basically gave up.....very sad.  There was a time when I was a member of NGC, PCGS, ANA, etc, etc.  I sold my complete sets of Proof coins from 1950-1964 and now just collect raw Lincoln Wheats.  I still don't understand why PCGS coins cannot be used in your sets.  Can someone come up on line and explain please?

  3. I rarely get coins graded anymore.....lots of money spent, many disappointments from both grading services.  I know.....the coin is only what value someone puts on it at the time but there seems to be so many variables that I have changed direction on my collection to raw, uncertified, for my eyes only!  Still a great hobby and I will still collect as I see fit.  Just wish the standards were just that.....STANDARD!!!  I guess that's asking too much???

  4. I recently sold a 1941 PF67 RD Lincoln cent on the Great Collections Auction site.  A previous PCGS Coin sold for 28K with the same grade.....both my coin and the PCGS coin was CAC certified.  Mine sold for less than 5K.....is that holder worth 23K????  It was a real disappointment....wish I had kept the coin!!!
