    BUYERS PREMIUM??
Where does this buyers premium come from? Here, in the upper Midwest when there is an auction, doesn't matter what kind, such as farm, business, estate whatever. The seller, yes the seller pays. It is a percentage of the total sale. Now it's between 7 and 10%. There is no fee to get a bidding number or anything like that. So is this buyers fees for buying something a reward for good bidding? Or is it a punishment to the seller for not getting their fair share? I don't know, just asking. I am sure I will hear all about it. I hope so anyway. Maybe it's an East Coast, West Coast thing. Or maybe it is something new some Joe Schmoe thought up just to be different.
Any how, let me hear it good friends of the NGC family. I want to know. Well maybe I don't need to know.

JUST GOT THE RESULTS OF MY US MARSHALLS PF/MS. IT AIN'T PRETTY
Well, I bought 3 proof, and three unc and sent them in. The grading is over and 2 MS70, the rest MS/PF69. If any one wants the 69s contact me. They will go very reasonable.

    WHAT WOULD YOU CALL THIS?
I have shown this cent before. Still, I like looking at it every now and then. Still trying to figure out just what happened to it and if it deserves a better look by NGC. Give me your thoughts everyone.

    MINT AND IT'S DELIVERIES??
Hi, Today my 2014 D Sacagawea enhanced dollars are due to arrive. It has been over 2 months since I placed my order for them. This is contrast to the US Marshalls silver dollar that I ordered on Thursday at the opening. My receipt was printed at :02 after the hour. On Friday they said they were shipped and I received them on this past Monday. Had all the paperwork and box for shipping ready, mailed them and NGC got them on Wednesday. Two totally different scenarios. I also got back my 25th anniversary silver eagle set from NGC Wednesday, and all 70s except for the "W" burnished. Got a 69. It had grown some toning while in captivity in my closet for nearly 4 years. It is neat though. Also have a hand full of coins at NCS, we will see in a few weeks how they did. Will try to load the picture of the toned eagle.

    INSTALLED AND TESTED
Well I got my alarm in the "MAIL" a few days ago and it took less than 10 minutes from package opening to install and try out. This thing really works. I did a lot of studying on it before I ordered it and what was nice about this model is it has a built in volume control, which is great. It also has a red light on it and it is real bright. One touch of the reset button after you get your mail and it's ready to go again.
If anyone is interested in it I bought this one on Ebay, and it is called "MAIL CHIME".
And hey everyone, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!!!!

    The US Mint.
It would be good if the Mint did offer insurance and a signature to it's buyers, but the thresh hold is $300 I think.
Thanks as usual to everyone who replied to my Thieves are out there post. Lots of good feedback
Like I said, I ordered a mailbox alarm, it is on it's way, I'll let everyone know my opinion of it when I get it installed. That is unless it gets ripped off.
    Thanks everyone, for everything.
    Thanks Rick,

    DON'T LET IT BE YOU
Well it finally happened. I had a order from the US Mint coming and I checked the tracker and it showed "delivered". That's fine except for one thing. My regular mail was there and NO package. Got with the Post Office and the carrier insists he put a package in my mailbox at the time noted on the tracker. Got with FedEx as it was shipped Smart post, but nothing I could do, neither one of them seemed interested in helping. Contacted the US Mint and they said I had to fill out a form, which I did, and they said it would take 4-6 weeks to find out the answer.
Has anyone had to deal with such runaround with the PO and FedEx? What happens with the US Mints form I filled out? Refund, or sorry Charlie you just have to eat this one.
It would be interesting to hear anyone else who has had packages disappear.
I ordered a mailbox alert system, I will let you all know how good/bad it is after I get it installed.
Thanks for reading, and I'll leave a light on for ya.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.

    ENHANCED PROOF LIKE??
I just looked at my invoice for my Kennedy 4 coin sets that I sent in. The enhanced coins are SP70 PL. I couldn't guess what that is. Proof Like on an enhanced? Oh and Rick the 68 is "P" mint mark.

    KENNEDY'S ON WAY HOME
Hi everyone. I sent in two of the Kennedy silver 4 coin sets, and this afternoon I checked my invoice and they are done. Much to my surprise The one rev pf and one pf got a 69 and the two unc, which I thought would be a 69 each got a 70. So I am ticked. I have a complete set of 70s out of the 2 sets.
I also sent in just for the heck of it 3 each of the clad 2 coin sets. One was a 68, 3-66, 1-67, and 1-65. I am happy though. I consider this a success.
If I can, I'll post some pics when I get them.
    Cheers everyone.

    CROSSOVER WORKED???
Hi, curiously has anyone had good luck sending in PCGS coins for crossover to NGC PF/MS 70 and received one for one 70s in return? I ask, because I have some I am interested in getting reholdered in NGC and wonder if it is worth the try.
Thanks folks and as always look forward to all your help and expertise.

    THANKS
YEP, ALL I WAS TRYING TO DO WAS SAVE SOME BUCKS BY SUBMITTING THEM MYSELF, AND AFTER NO SUCCESS WITH INDIVIDUAL COINS ONE AT A TIME, I DECIDED SUCCESS MUST BE IN NUMBERS RIGHT? GUESS I WAS WRONG.

I NEVER HAD COLLECTED CERTIFIED COINS UNTIL EARLY IN 2010. OTHERWISE, SINCE THE EARLY SIXTIES, MAYBE LATE FIFTIES I COLLECTED ONLY CIRCULATED COINS. BUT, THAT IS THE WAY IT GOES.

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT MR. W. I APPRECIATE IT.

DO THE BIG GUYS ON THE BLOCK I.E. AUTHORIZED PURCHASERS, INTERNET SELLERS, AND BIG STORES GET THE BEST COINS FIRST?
I guess this is my time to vent. I bought 14 of the baseball hall of fame coins from the Mint. I got through very reasonably early on the first day of sale. I thought I would get my coins rather early because of that. But every day the date for delivery kept getting pushed farther and farther back. I bought 14, 7 ea. of the proof and unc. in hopes of finding 5 to send in for grading and hopefully getting the 70 grade. The order came in waves beginning the middle of July, yes July. First 3 coins, then 5 coins, then 4 coins and finally 2.

Well my disappointment was NONE of the 14 would have made a 70. Each and every one had something, like marks, dings, rubs, black spots, scrapes and the like. And because They came in waves, I never thought of sending them back, cuz they came in such a haphazardly way. A couple would not have gotten a 68. So much for my theory that buying enough should get some worth sending in.

Now for today. I ordered 4 of the Kennedy gold anniversary halves. In the same spirit that one or two should be good to get a 70 grade. Not so. all of them were poorly struck on the reverse, two had marks or scratches, and one, which has nothing to do with grading had a damaged wooden show box. Needless to say I am PIS d oooofffff. Of course, they are going back.

So in the mean time I called other folks to see how their adventures went, and one chap who works for one of the BIG boys said they had 85% of their Kennedys come back a 70. Three other regular folks I talked to sent in a total of 7 to be graded, and NONE came back a 70. What does that tell you? It tells me that common Joe Blow doesn't get the cream of the crop.

I know I will be lambasted over my rant and greed, but damn, this can't be co-incidence can it?

I welcome comments and tongue lashings, good or bad. Let me know your experiences etc.

Thanks everyone, and have a great day, I am cuz I am going to the post office to mail back the Kennedy's.

    BROWN LABEL CIVAL RIGHTS RARE?
Hi, everyone. Read with great interest W.K.F.s post about the different third party certifiers. Bravo to saying what he did about the TV guy. If I sold all my collection for what he is getting, I might be upper middle class.
SERIOUSLY! I collect the Modern Commemoratives, and so far through out the years I have been getting the NGC Brown label. Trying to keep it uniform I guess. Usually I send some in for grading, but this time for the 2014 Civil Rights one I decided to wait and get it in the open market. This year, no one is carrying the STANDARD BROWN NGC label. I don't know why.
All the folks (dealers) I have visited with say get the Blue ER, it is better down the road. Someone tell me why a blue ER is better down the road.
Anyway looks like my set will become blossoming with color this year. No problem tho, blue is pretty, like the sky and ocean.
So does anyone have the proof 2014 Civil rights coin, and if so, is the reverse "SPECTACULAR" with it's special finish?
Great job on all your posts W.K.F. I enjoy reading them and keep up the great writing.

GOT ONE IN CHANGE TODAY AT THE BANK.
Well today at the bank while getting some rolls of the Mount Rushmore Quarters D mint where I live. I got some change from a check I had cashed. In it was a WHEATIE, yes indeed it was a 1958 but really very nice. They are out there when you least expect it.
No if anyone out there can get me some P mint Rushmore quarters I would appreciate it.
To the new lovers of the Silver Eagle, WELCOME, they are my favorite too. But I have been working on my Modern Commemorative set getting it ready for the Registry Awards. It is the set where I think I am in 18th place, so probably won't even get looked at being I am so far down the list. I have worked on it steady for over a month and a half. If anyone is interested take a look at it and get in on the gallery part. Take a tour, let me know your thoughts so I can hopefully improve it for next year. It is a very hard set to complete, but I am determined to do it.
Well GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!!! Hope your sets are ready and they bring in the trophy.

    5 COINS ON WAY HOME
Well my coins are graded and on the way here. My Reverse Gold Buffalo wasn't a 70 and both Reverse proof Eagles were 70, the SP, a 69 by the way, I returned a SP70 to a dealer I bought it from because of a gouge in it, so how is mine a 69? The 2012 Proof eagle from the San Fran set is also a 69.
I felt they would all be 70s except for the 2012 S reverse proof, because it had like bag marks on the obverse and reverse. And here it comes in at a 70, go figure, I took good photos of them before I shipped them so we will see if they may have been miss placed. I also have a 5 star generals with a 70 grade and there are three marks across Ikes head, looks like they are from a reeded edge, very pronounced.
Well my friends my first try at sending in coins was less than hoped, that's why they are judging them and not me I guess.
Take care everyone and will have some pics up later in the week.

Sent em in, how will I stack up?
Well I did it, Sent in my Reverse proof Buffalo, 2013 W ASE set, and a 2012 S ASE set for grading.
I bought some grading books and studied via NGC, and other sites. Looked at each coin daily many times, and concentrated on a different part of the coin each time. I also used more than one different magnification each time so as to get a different aspect of each coin. Also under different lighting.
So, in my extreme ignorance on judging grades, here are my guestimates:
    Reverse Proof Buffalo--PR70
    2013 W Reverse Proof ASE--PR70
    2013 W Enhanced uncirculated ASE--SP70
    2012 S Reverse Proof ASE--PR69
    2012 S Proof ASE--PR70
I also should let you know that I had to send back the Buffalo and the W ASE set to the mint for replacement before I was happy with the returned ones. And the Mint was extremely fast in turn around and also refunded my shipping on all the returned items. From start to finish it was 9 days from when I mailed them till I got the last exchange item, including refund checks.
If my Buffalo and 2013 W set come back as 70s, I will be extremely happy. Wish me luck, as this is my first submission.
    Thanks for reading.

    ADVICE PLEASE, AGAIN.
When I renewed my NGC membership, I did so by upgrading to get the 5 free submissions. I did this knowing that I would indeed have five new coins to send. They are the 2013 reverse buffalo, 2013 W silver eagle set, and a yet unopened 2012 S silver eagle set.
What to do, the buffalo looks like a 69, the 2013 enhanced obverse has a scratch like image on it, more like a piece of fuzz got in there just as the press came together, and a bag like nick on the reverse. As I said, the 2012 S is unopened. I know the enhanced will be a 69 and I can buy them already certified for $69 so why waste my free ones eh? Or send them all in and see what comes up. I don't even know if I should send in any. I do have an unopened 2011 25th anniversary set in the closet I guess would work.
Any who, give me your thoughts fellow members both good bad and for my own stupidity let me have it. I wish I could just send the 2013 W back, but that costs more also and no knowing if they have more or not, and maybe if they did the replacement could be worse.
    THANKS EVERYONE.

    NOT THE BEST PIC.
Well it came yesterday, and I apologize for the crappy pic. It is the best I can do. When I opened the shipping box, you could smell the leather aroma and my anticipation and excitement went off the charts. It came in a absolutely gorgeous brown wood box, with leather, dollhouse type fabric inside.
Upon opening the box, I was floored by the beauty of the coin. Stunning is a better word, again I wish I had a better camera. My photo just doesn't show the awesomeness of it.
When my wife came home from work she looked at it and didn't say anything at first. Then she said it is unbelievable.
Well after our excitement settled, it was time to get the old magnifying glass out and take a good look. I do not know how to grade coins, but I don't think it is a PF70. But we are going to try and get it certified and take what it gives.
None the less, we are very happy with it, as its eye appeal is off the chart. Hope you enjoy my pic and story.

    ANXIOUS
I just found out the reverse proof buffalo my wife and I ordered from the mint was shipped. We are looking forward to getting it. It looks like there will be close to 50,000 of them cuz yesterdays close was over 42K. Anyway this is a first for us so we will see. I bet it is nicer looking than all our nickels. Will pop a pic when I get it.

2013W SILVER EAGLE SET #s WAY OFF.
Well that is a good question. When is a set a set? To me when a set is put forth such as the 2012 and 2013 and even the 2011 ASE sets by the mint, and they are sold by one of the large sellers, and they are purchased by a long time customer, you would think that they would send a pair that is reasonably close in numbers.
So help me out here folks, am I wish full thinking or what? All my other sets are real good in matching up the numbers. I guess I feel a set is just that and when it comes with numbers they should be sequential or DAMN close.
Also the SP is cloudy, anyone have that in theirs?

    VIEW THESE COINS
Hi, just bought these coins today. They are awfully soiled, it even comes off on your hands. The Peace dollar with the "X" on it is scotch tape, it is a very nice coin if I can get the tape residue off, plus on the other side is mold like spots. The Morgans are just grimmy, and like I said it comes off in your hands. How can I spruce them up abit? The one Morgan and one Peace are very nice, in fact the one Morgan still has the sheen/luster of a uncirculated coin, and all the details are nice. The one Peace with the "X" is very nice, but only on one side.
Can anyone give me advice. I now it's not right to "clean" coins but these are really awfull.
I will post the opposite sides next.

    TAKING THE PLUNGE TOGETHER.
Well, my fellow members I took the chance that I hope will pan out. My wife and I decided to go all in and order the Reverse Proof Buffalo. I said we could cancel between now and shipping time or return it when we get it if not pleased. This is a very big step for us, as we are getting up in life and retirement is upon us, so not sure if this will pay off in the next few yrs.
What do you think Members? Was it wise or stupid, I know wise if we come out ahead and stupid if we lose money. The mint is not putting up numbers for total sales, so this will indeed be a shoot.
I always can try to get it certified in hopes of bringing in more value. I do have some free coupons for certifying.
    As always friends, thanks.

    NAUGHTY OR NICE!
Has anyone ever bought a MS70 or PF70 "slabbed" coin from one of the other two not so popular grading services, because you got it really cheap, and broken it out of its holder and sent it to NGC in the hopes of getting a MS or PF 70 out of it?
Will anyone ever admit to doing that? I wonder.
I just thought I would put it out there for conversation.
Have a great one everybody, and thanks for listening.
