Got this back from grading.  Bought it from the Mint.  Called NGC to find out what this meant.  Got a gal who read a prepared sentence.  I called the mint to see if they had done something to this coin, and they say no, can't be responsible for coins once they leave the mint.  Still don't know what is wrong with it.  I guess the Postal Service did something to it before NGC got it, because I know that they don't "alter surfaces".  Anyway, can someone explain what the mints do to alter surfaces so as to negate a coin from being graded.

    Thanks anyone.

Just thought I would try to catch up with folks.  I have been away for awhile as many of you know.  Health reasons.  My tests are finally in the normal + range.  But in February I had my 4th back surgery which left me much worse off than what I went in as.  But in July we got my next hobby to keep me waking up for something to do each day, being disabled and retired, in no particular order, and waiting for Mrs. to retire in 1 1/2 yrs. It is a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with matching numbers and near original interior 84,000 miles.  We owned one when we got married in 1973 and miss it since then.  Looked for nearly 9 yrs to find one in good shape.  Being an ex auto mechanic, had to dig out the Motors and Chilton's to refresh on some things.  Was embarrassed to admit it but I have forgotten more than I can ever remember.  But none the less, I am pressing on.  I am hoping my Competitive Isle of Man cats gets some attention for this years awards as well as my custom cats of the world, or others, especially the Snow Leopards.  Hope my old followers will follow me again, as I will follow you as well.

WOW!!!  I sent in 18 World coins to NGC on April 10th via small flat rate priority mail.  They received it on the 12th.  The 13th of April, the tracker said received and verified.  I checked the tracker and it said scheduled for grading on the 16th of April. The 17th of April it said finalized/shipped.  WHAT THE F!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Can it be??????????  Received it this morning the 24th of April.  Only 7 days to ship here.  Other submissions took 2 weeks or more.  WHAT'S UP WITH THIS??????  Anyone have any thoughts on this miraculous turnaround.  By the way I was very pleased with the grades on this submission.  Of which all my previous submissions have been less than rewarding.  I sent in this submission because I have been waiting for a particular coin to get to complete a set I have been striving to complete for years.  Now it's time to add them to the registry and then later this summer put them up for sale, God willing.  For all you who remember, my health is stable for now which is good I guess.  I am recovering right now from a major surgery that has really drained my gas tank (emotional and physical).  Folks, please try to keep the journals going.  I look everyday and sometimes days/weeks go by and the same last three posted show up.  IT IS DISHEARTENING to see what it has become.  DAMN IT NGC GET YOUR TOGETHER AND PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS OR FIX IT SOMEHOW.  LISTEN TO YOUR MEMBERS.  THEY!!!!!!!!!!! ARE THE ONES WHO MADE YOU.  Don't go the way of Ebay.  Us small sellers made Ebay and now they cowtow to the big internet sellers and national businesses.  Just DON'T go there.  I am Formally known as Eagles-r-It.  And my favorite color is ORANGE.

I guess that sometime everyone gets the "dreaded" phone call in life.  Whether it is being notifyied of a family member death or failing health.  This time it is my turn.  Failing health and serious problem has made it's way to myself.  I am having to start selling and don't really know how to approach it.  I think there are members here that work for auction firms and people who sell online alot.  If anyone could contact me about advice or people to contact I would appreciate it.  If you are looking for something, let me know if I have it maybe we can work something out.  I won't make a firm decision on how to sell until I hear from alot of you, my friends and colleauges here at NGC.  It pains me to do this, but selling was not a choice I made lightly, rather it is a necessary thing.  Thanks to you all.
I must say CONGRATS to all the registry winners, way to go and best of luck to all of you in 2018.

Hello friends,  I am letting you all know I have changed my Public name.  It was Eagles-R-it, but now it is RMK-Collectibles.  I did this to better reflect my hobbies and buying habits.  I am kind of a accumulator of lots of things, not just Silver Eagles.  So all my friends here at NGC especially Rick, Brent, Keith, Glenn, Troy, and Dan I hope you continue to follow me as I will still follow you all and more.  By the way, where can I find the follow/following part since the change.  Anyway hope ALL members continue to enjoy my sets.  THANKS THANKS THANKS.  PS how do I add photos to this new format?

Two things on my top ten list is tour the US Mint, and attend a large coin show.  The Denver ANA show fit the criteria for a trip like this to get two of my top tens done.  We made reservations and purchased airfare tickets in early April.  The days went by and two days before our trip I decided to check the Mint website again for info on the tours.  To my shock all tours were cancelled during the week of the ANA show.  This was not the case when we decided on the trip.  Oh well disappointed but still going to a big show.
DAY 1: Wednesday.  Left home at 10AM for the 2 1/2 hr. drive to the airport 110 miles give or take.  Got to the airport and just our luck, flight delayed 1 hr.  Then 2hr. then 3, and 4hrs. delayed.  Finally got here and flight to Denver smooth and uneventful.  Another 2 hrs. before we got to the hotel.  All is well, had a good night.
DAY2: Thursday. Walked the few blocks to the Colorado Convention Center and got there for the 9:30 opening for members.  They wouldn't let my wife in until 10am.  I went in first, got the 2 Chinese coins commemorating the convention and the two medal set from the ANA.  Then my wife joined me and we headed to the US Mint booth.  I walked up there and asked for some one in authority.  I was going to give them a piece of my mind for cancelling the tours during one of the biggest coin shows in town.  They introduced me to a guy and I said. "who's bright idea was it to cancel the Mint tours.  We planned on this trip back in April, and now no tours."  The gentleman stood there and took my clean, but polite rant, quit clamly.  When I was done he said.  We are having tours for ANA members and show attendees and we have two times, 2pm and 3:30pm."  Well I don't wear bladder control underwear, but I nearly needed it right them and there.  After he explained why they closed it for the show and we talked awhile, I swallowed hard and profusely apologized, but walked away with two 3:30pm tickets.  We made the tour and was exhausted, so we walked back to the hotel, then out for supper.  Did I say we are from the upper mid west?  I mean upper upper mid west near the Canadian border.  Hence the words supper and 2 1/2 hrs. to the airport.
DAY 3: Friday.  Went back to the show and took my time and checked with the Mint to see if they had any 225th anniversary sets.  Forgot yesterday with my tantrum and all.  Explained to them I tried online the first day to no avail.  But as proven yesterday with the Mint tour surprise, they just got 2 cases in literally right in front of me and he asked how many.  I said 2 sets is fine, I am not greedy like the TV and online sellers.  I could have bought both cases, but I am not greedy.  Went through about half of the bourse and decided to go to NGC and get my purchases sent in for grading.  Back to the hotel to wait for my wife who had gone to visit a mutual friend who was seriously injured in a auto crash back in October of last year and is getting therapy in a rehab center in Denver.
DAY 4.  Saturday.  Went back to the show to finish the bourse.   I was shocked to find 30 - 40 % of the tables EMPTY,  And another 20 - 30 % packing up.  This was Saturday and the only free admission day, and probably the only day the working folks could probably make the show.  I was really disappointed and SAD these dealers did not stick around.  I can think of my early days at small 10 to 20 table shows hoping to find a key or something and coming on Saturday and they are half gone.  I did not expect this at the big show.   Found 1 more coin and brought the ones I had left in the hotel safe with that I forgot yesterday to bring from day 2 purchases for NGC to be graded.  Yes I know should have waited to turn them ALL in on the last day.  But I was excited, my first big coin show.  I was like a kid in a candy shop.  By the way we did stop in 2 candy shops on the way back to the hotel.  ENTIRELY my WIFE'S fault.
DAY 5.  Got up, actually my wife got up at 5am to get to the airport, I was up all night ill.  Must have been the candy shop.  No I was seriously ill, up over 39 hrs straight.  Got to the airport and of course I set off the alarms as I did at day one airport.  I have an artificial hip and I was then patted down again.  I have never been felt up so much in five days my whole like. Not even at home.  CHUCKLE CHUCKLE.  Finally got to the gate and the flight was switched to another gate,  got there and the flight was delayed 1 hr. 15 min.  Well that held and got in exactly 1hr. 15 min late.  Got to the car for the 2 1/2 hr. drive home.  Needless to say I welcomed my own bed.,  Good to be home.  8 top tens to go.  All in all, we had a blast.  All the dealers were very nice, chatty and willing to deal.  Left some business cards with some I bought from and made some connections for the future I hope.  So last night asked the wife.  Next big show is in Las Vegas and the FUN show in Florida, which do you want to go to?  NEITHER !!! she said.  We will see.

Anyone done business with World-Numismatics?  Looking at some of their coins and wondering how they are.  Do they ship fast?  Have quality products, trustworthy.  Returns hassle free?  Just some info on them if anyone has bought from them in the past.  I believe they are in England, because they list everything in pounds for prices.  That is no big deal though.  As always Thank you everyone.

    I said WHAT??
Ok the new chat is supposedly up. I still can't find anything. I guess this is for literate folks. I do not know what a thread is, breadcrumbs, post, and all this other crapolla. Thread is in my wife's sewing room, breadcrumbs are, you guessed it, in the bread box by the fridge. How about truely making it simple. I am a no haired senior. No one to help with this computer stuff. The younger folks don't have time or patience to show us things, and these site managers just throw this stuff out there and either you know or don't know how to "navigate" it. Guess maybe I should let my sub expire, and only join up again when I have enough to send in again. Or maybe I should just expire and no one else will have to put up with my illiterate mumbo jumbo.

didn't know Silver Eagles came in two sets?
Two questions here. First the coin and it's label description. Were the eagles available in a mint set and 25th anniversary set in 2011. With all the back and forth about the PCGS no more. Can one buy stock in NGC? Is it on the Stock market?
Just me being silly I guess.
    Happy holidays to everyone.
Recovering from my 3rd back surgery, doing ok.

    Ceremony day rolls
Has anyone been to the ceremonies for the National Parks quarters. If so, are the rolls of quarters they sell for face at the ceremonies the collector rolls from the mint or are they just regular rolls anyone can get at the banks the same day?
    Appreciate it folks

Broke down and got a safe
Well the bank fees for safe deposit boxes have been too much. Got a fire safe. Stack-on is the brand. Got the rechargeable de-humidifyer and light. Question is this. Does the carpet in the safe, dehumidifyer and lights have PVC's or anything like that? I know I should have done better home work on it but my research skills are very minimal. Plus it's too late now. It is bolted to the floor and installed. Just need to get to the bank and empty out the vault. Feedback anyone? Ideas? Shoulda, coulda, woulda's???

    How to tell.
Friends, hate to pull anyone away from the current "rim" debate, but I just bought a very nice 1984 Olympics 3 coin set. The S minted coin has some green area's on it and am trying to determine if it is PVC damage. I have been around the coin world only a short time, and have read some on it and viewed the NCS video etc. But, I am still not sure exactly what this damage is and can it successfully be removed without then making the coin "cleaned". This is a very very nice coin and I would have sent it in for grading except for the green area's. I hate to send it in to NCS only to find it is not repairable. Plus, I don't have five to send in and pay the larger fee. I have sat around some conversations on this topic, and the arguments back and forth are insightful, but I have never really fully understood the PVC damage thing. This coin appears to have been stored in the OGP as it is pristine. Are there "home remedies" for removing this green glob creature?
    IDEAS???
Enclosed is the best I can do photo wise.

    HERTITAGE; SOME DO'S AND DON'TS
I am looking at a coin that is coming up in a Heritage auction. Because I have never participated in a coin auction online, other than Ebay, I would like some help on what to do and not do. Or anything else I need to know like buyers fees? shipping insurance, etc. Or if someone would be willing to act as a surrogate on my behalf let me know. I guess I would entertain any help in this endeavor. Also I went to register through Heritage and they said I was already approved. Only thing is, it is my wife who is registered, and she doesn't know anything about it. How could they get her credentials?
    As usual thanks every one.

    I AM BESIDE MYSELF.
I sent some coins in to be conserved and graded, and of course no one is ever happy. But I believe that one was damaged while in others hands. It came back as a PF68. Now no one ever sends in coins that they feel will not get a PF70 when you are dealing with modern day commemoratives. Because of the expense of acquiring the coins then 30 plus each for grading etc. One looks them over very skeptically before sending them in to be assured as best as they can they get the best results. Also half of the capsules were broken, and broken in the exact same way in appearance. 10 sent in and 5 busted capsules. I called and really did not get anywhere so I hung up in frustration. It seems that their theory is damage occurred during transit between me and the destination.
I guess that is a possibility, except that I over pack to protect them, I have sent hundreds of packages containing coins, and not one was damaged in all that time. I would think that if MY package was damaged when they got it that I would have been notified, but I was not informed as such.
My question is this: Has anyone ever been notified that someone accidentally dropped or damaged a coin you sent in for grading/conservation? If so how was it explained to you and what was the outcome?
Pardon my rant, but I am absolutely dismayed by this recent submission. I know after I post this, I will have thought of things I should have said, and perhaps found better was to express myself, but that's the way it goes.
And to top it all, most of the coins I can sell for more money raw than graded PF69. That is why I wanted the OGP back. To sell the ones that I could sell raw again by breaking up the slab to try and recoup some of the loss.
Yes I am prepared for the negative feedback, so let me have it.

    GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERENT?
Has anyone sent back coins for regarding that they just plain felt the coins were better than what was given them? How was your experience? If two graders look at each and every coin that is graded and encapsulated, has any been re-graded down or up, depending on what the second grader felt? If so, how would one know, or are they looked at so fast, they are just signed off that that is what the grade is? If you have them re-graded, and they come back the same as you sent in, is there an explanation why? Is the serial # changed if they do indeed give a higher grade? Are they opened from the holder and re-looked at or not? I maybe should not have brought this up at all, but I received 2 back, and I just don't agree with the grade. Experiences anyone?
Hope I don't get kicked off this site because of my inquiry.

    LAST WEEKS DREW GREAT DIALOGUE.
If you have a certified coin MS or PF70, and after some time it develops toning or hazing or spots. Is this coin still considered a 70, and should it or should it not receive the same value at a sale? I ask this because it has happened to me and probably most all of you too. So if it still should attain a 70 value, then should not a coin exhibiting small toning or hazing or spots, in otherwise perfect condition be graded a 70 also????
Thank you all. Believe it or not these questions are of a great help to me learning our great hobby. I have only been at this since the late 60s, early 70s.
    Lets get the discussion going.
I just realized something. When I turn 69 in a couple of years, do you think I may make a 70 grade?
OOPS!!! sorry this is way more than one question.

This is a pic of a set that I just recently sent in for grading. It has been in my closet for about 3 1/2 yrs. Could it be a sister set?
