  1. NGC can change the rules however they see fit... and it seems they did.

I have my 1909 set (all PCGS coins) listed on NGC just to share the set with more collectors. Don't really care about the competition, though it was fun to be recognized as having a top set for several years.

Now that my set is worth zero points to NGC, I don't care. As long as fellow collectors can check it out and enjoy it, that's what matters most.

However, if I understand it correctly, if I upgrade/add any more PCGS coins to my set, I will not be able to update those changes on the NGC Registry, even if they are worth zero points. That is disappointing and makes zero sense to not let us share coins that are worth zero points in their game anyways. Would have made much more sense to not grandfather in our PCGS coins and remove them entirely.

  2. Hello everyone,

Earlier this week, I started up a Facebook page for my coin business. I know many of you use Facebook and if you don't mind seeing a few new coins a week and some info about upcoming shows every so often, then I would appreciate you "liking" my page.

    Link to my Facebook page:

    http://www.facebook.com/kittlecoins

I still plan to post updates of new purchases here on the forum when I add a group of coins to my website, but if you follow me on Facebook you may see something a bit sooner or come across something you miss in my other posts here. I don't expect to sell much (and perhaps nothing at all) through Facebook, but I think it will potentially be a good resource to expose new people to the hobby and educate more folks about numismatics, particularly the younger ones.

As an incentive for you to check out and to "like" my page on Facebook, I will be giving away one of our one ounce silver 2015 Glendale Coin Club medals struck by Daniel Carr to one of you who like my page. Since I may not be able to track your name here vs. your name on Facebook, if you want to be in the drawing for this prize, please send me a private message after you like the page. I'll select the winner by random draw a week from today, on May 4.

Thanks again for looking at my posts here and thank you in advance for your support with the new Facebook page. And if you don't use Facebook, you can still see my coins on my website linked in my signature line below.

  3. Don't think I ever posted this coin here... one of my favorite coin in my collection to look at. I have many coins worth much more, but this one is just so cool. I had the opportunity to go through 200-300 freshly graded 1909 VDB cents that had been put away for many years and I spent over an hour going through them picking out the most eye appealing examples. Bought around a dozen of them that day, but this one is my favorite:

  4. This one is pretty :)

Yes it is Mike. I wonder what environment that was kept in to cause that coloration. Maybe a felt medal pouch or something?

The medals were artificially toned by the seller. The medals are 2014 creations by Dan Carr and he sells them in various formats on his website. "Color Toned" is one of the available formats and I'm not sure exactly how he gets the color on the coin, but I do like the result :)

  5. I'm also illini420 on eBay and my store is called Michael Kittle Rare Coins.

I have over 500 positive feedbacks and would be happy to negotiate better prices than are listed on eBay with any forum members.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

  6. Picked up a few NGC dual slabs with matching toners in them at the Long Beach show. Offering them here first before I consider selling via eBay. Please contact me with any questions or comments, thanks!
