Traded my former 1950 Proof Washington that was heavily hairlined for this pleasing specimen this weekend.

Just a few raw fun finds from the local B&M:
And a Type 1 I pulled from a nickel roll.

It wasn't in cellophane, it was in a capital holder...I may give acetone a shot...am I correct that acetone doesn't discolor copper as coin dip does?On that 50 proof set..../ did it come in the original cellophane? It is possible that's just glue and should be able to be removed with acetone. I know I posted on your other thread that it looked like someone tried to conserve it, but it is altogether possible that it's just glue. All the early box set proof coins suffered from this problem. -
Here are some photos taken last night of the raw 1950 proof set I picked up over the weekend:
Lincoln - Nice Cent with great contrast, the reverse fingerprint sucks.
Jefferson - IMHO the highlight of the set.
Roosevelt - a few hairlines in the right obverse field, but nice contrasting coin.
Washington - Several hairlines in both right and left obverse fields and a strong frost on the bottom of the portrait but almost no frost above the curls.
Franklin - Very little cameo contrast, and several hairlines in the Obverse fields, but a very attractive reverse.

The 1952 is definitely a cameo...in fact I'm hoping it'd have a shot at a UCAM/DCAM; unfortunately, that'd be hard to accomplish without dipping away the color. I'm not skilled enough to show the color and contrast in the same photo here's another set that brings out the contrast a bit more. And oh yeah...did I mention it's also a Superbird?Nice looking Washies. Is that 52' cameo also? -

PCGS PR66 DCAM picked up from a friend ATS.
CoinDude - For the record...I kinda wish I had your 1952 back...although the one I replaced it with isn't too bad.
