I was fortunate enough to have purchased the 2019 enhanced SAE  on opening day. I sent it in sealed mint packaging for the FDOI label and the COA number.
I am now told I cannot get a FDOI label. Why? If there was a 1 per household limit, did dealers send these in bulk to obtain one?
Here is just one listing from a familiar place:
“2019 S SILVER EAGLE REVERSE ENHANCED NGC PF 70 FIRST DAY OF ISSUE 5826281-003 OGP AND COA INCLUDED”
More than 10 available? I rest my case.   QuantityMore than 10 available

    100% was the goal
    Hello everyone,
I just added the last two MS Eagles to my collection. I now have both sets at 100%. Here's hoping that 2012 will bring us only 2 coins. Did somebody say, 26th Anniversary set?
    I'm outta here.
    Happy Collecting

The 2013 W SP is a variety coin of the American Silver Eagle. It has no place in an MS set, especially adding it 4 years after being minted. There is a category for the American Silver Eagle varieties. One day I have a 100% complete set, and next day I don't. All those bogus eagles that we had to have ( and paid premium prices for), are not included in the mint state collection, but as varieties. The P and S Eagles belong there too. Ever notice there are no NGC 2017 FDOI S Silver Eagles? Another bogus coin that we have to have? Next year maybe we will get a CC mint mark?

When I first started collecting the $20 Canadian silver coins, I was told NGC would not grade the "snowflake" issues. They contain crystals that may come loose and therefore are not gradable. My how times have changed. Now the "catch phrase seems to be "colored outside the mint" I am out  good deal of time and money for this excuse to grade a coin that is submitted with a COA, and charged for no grading, or encapsulation. Limited numbers are being plated or colorized, and many more to come. Our US coins aren't even struck in the mint they claim to be struck in. If NGC is afraid the enamel will fall off, why are we signing a release when submitted?
I just had 2 more become "ungradable" and have more (8), of the same to be graded. There needs to be a list of coins that NGC will not grade. Now I have 2 collections that are missing completion. At close to $100.00 per coin and $30 each to not grade them, it is ludicrous.
There will be many more (collectors) trying to make sets with high grades, but now we have been halted by "policy."  There needs to be a current list, or a change in the grading procedure. SmartMint is coming fast and then we will see. No one even knows where, or what entity even strike them anymore. Why should NGC care about the colorization on so few specimens?
if they are not colorized at "the" mint. Where are they done? Why do B.H. Mayer and CIT exchange coins? I also have a few other colorized coins that came from "the" mint.
Collectors need a list before we engage in the purchase of coins that are "worthless."

I am not a collector of Morgans. I have no clue, other than weight and sound, to check authenticity.
I found this coin in a sub floor.
I am hoping it is good, but won't be disappointed if it's a fake.
    Thank you

    Is it really a PF70ER?
    Hello everyone,
I just received a 2011 Sac PF70ER in the mail, and was examining it when I found 2 tiny die cracks between 7 and 8 O'clock on the true reverse of the coin. The coin is definitely a 70, but I wonder if any more of you have noticed this. With the relatively small number of 70s, as compared to other years, might they qualify as a "mint error" also? If you have one or more, I'd like to know.
On another hand, are any of you sending in coins to be graded, and they are coming back with very low grades because fingerprints have been added while they were out of your control?
They all boast about how they can handle raw coins with bare hands, but they have to stop eating chips while grading. PCGS did the same thing, so they're all guilty. Their reply? "You must have sent it to us like that." While it was only a 69 when it went to them, they made it into a 65. All I can hope for now is silver going higher so I can melt it. I never open the capsules......I guess the Mint does it?
I scanned the cracks, but they're tiny. Let's hope we get a special slot?
    Good luck all!

How can you pass up a good deal?
    Hello everyone,
As some of you know, I am trying to sell my collection and move on to other things. I have a few graded coins which are not entered into the Registry, but are of great numismatic and monetary value.
I spoke with the person at Heritage Auctions today, and asked if they'd either be interested in buying, or taking on consignment, one of these coins. They said that the lack of interest in New Zealand coins would not be worth buying, nor offering it at auction. Well, imagine that! I remember a year ago, I could buy a complete threepence set for the cost one coin, today. A decent Waitangi Crown in MS is over $10,000. Hmmmmmmm?
I do not see any justice, nor logic in their reasoning.
When you have the highest ever graded, is it worthless because no one wants it? I am almost glad to dissolve and downsize. Like everything, I hope they realize when they could have gotten it cheap.
Here's hoping you collect nothing but the best!

I had the best set for years
NGC plays with sets to get others on top. All of a sudden a set or two is missing a description. I lost my complete #1 New Zealand set for the same reason. Politics in numismatics.

There are no bullion coins minted in San Francisco......period.
They mint them at West Point and fly them to California.
Please remove it. It is as phony as the "minted at" coins we "had" to have and paid a premium for.
NGC pulled the last round of Eagles because it cannot substantiated, by fact, where the coins are minted.
    West Point does bullion.

    FeeBay is a losing proposition
    Hi all!
Just a short addendum to Paul's journal.
A few of us abandoned FeeBay almost 2 months ago. We aren't looking back. I paid the $49.99 for a lifetime of free listings and no FV fees. You may list in several ways and get up to 5 images, per listing, as Paul said. Free T shirt too!
Personally I have had more good sales, with no fees I didn't ask for. I have a lot more people looking too.
Here's the link to see or join:
    http://us.ebid.net/perl/normal.cgi?ref=760460&mo=register-main
Paul saved the signup fee(seller+)for much less than a month's fees at the other.
More perks too! If you have coins, or sets to sell, you can list them here until they sell......for free!
I'm there....even some of your friends may be there. I know Paul is just another member that got fed up with feeding the bigger "E".
Just click on the red oval that's labeled "join". You won't be sorry.
eBid is meant for everyone....even if you only want to look.
The next time your 10 coins don't sell, and you relist them with feeBay.....you'll remember our journals?
Get more value for your bucks.....it's a bit more than one coin grading. Be among friends!
    I'm a quitter too.
I received a few emails already, and I will admit that eBid isn't for everyone. $49.99 may seem like a lot. It isn't.
EBid may not have the base as ebay, but you are exposed to the world. I also can work with a buyer or seller without being questioned about policy. For a few bucks you can join just as a "buyer".
Hey.....do that, and buy a few of my coins. You may find something you can't on eBay.
A few asked me about it months ago. Less joined. Now, more members have opened their eyes and closed the wallet. Use the money you save to grade that special coin. Your money should be invested in coins. Pay grading fees with saved listing and FV fees. You'll see!
By the way, my next set is in QC.
Have a great day......and welcome to eBid, Paul, Jay, and a few others.

    One day it's there....next day it's gone!
    Hello everyone,
I lost a set of my new 2011 Presidents to a modification by NGC. I had several coins for the slots that I entered on 1-28. I entered them all and shortly my top set was down on the list.
I now have one coin listed on 2-4-11. I didn't do it. I had my sets in order and left them, but now they do not reflect it.
Has anyone else had their sets "modified" without actually doing it themselves? I know another member has had it happen too. Last year was horrendous also. I will be so glad to get back to a few sets that are managable. Drop me a line if you too are having any problems with the system?
    Thanks

    Bah humbug!
    Hi everyone,
I have just completed the 2011 ASE set. It's amazing how it took 6 coins to get it done. Two of the coins have no mint mark? They just claim to be minted at San Francisco and West Point. Funny how the others have a corresponding mint mark as to where they came from. A few more years of this and I'll go back to sports cards. I guess the economy is booming everywhere else. My pockets are so much more empty now!
I still have the best PF69 set, so I shouldn't complain. I hope I don't run out of gas on my way home.
    G'nite all

There is a coin God afterall?
    Hello everyone,
As some of you know, a Presidential set of mine had moved from it's original spot. I asked NGC to look into it as I had entered the coins all on the same date.
Well, it took a little time, but alas, my set is back where it started.
I'd like to thank J. Garcia and those responsible for investigating and repairing this modification. I am happy to see my set back, and still glad that all of us can work things out.
I never expected to achieve a 164 ranking in these short years, but I am proud to have made it, before my collection is history.
Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement from friends here in the Society. I am not going away, just downsizing.
There is peace again in the valley.
    Happy collecting everybody!

I wish I had that job.
    Hello everyone!
I just got two boxes from NGC. My little proof set(1960), and a few Canadian in the other. I got my 1c slab back with a gouge in the face of the slab. My Canadian, a hologram, has abrasion(slight) over the hologram.
I guess when you try to get your coins preserved, and presentable, you need to send them in to be reslabbed a few times until it is right?
No kudos for quality control today.
Am I the only one starting to see this?
    Have a great day!

At the deadline for entering coins for the awards, I had the #1 Proof Presidential set in the Registry. No mention of it in the downloads section. I also had the #2 set at the end, for this year, yet that was only close. Someone got an undeserved award, and I still am near the top. Collecting this set was a passion. There was only one top set. I tried.

Want to list your coin auctions for free?
    Hello everyone!
I found a place to go.
Yes, there is a fee for the top perks, but feebay has no perks.
It has become a place to plop your hard earned investment to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Listing fees, subtitle fees, 1 free photo, gallery fees, highlight fees.......had enough yet? No, you say???
How about the hefty "final value fee"? Next comes the "PayPal Only" coin transaction? Give me a break!( I kept it clean)
I cannot do this anymore. I am trying another place.
    Lifetime subscription.....$49.99 That's it!
    NO LISTING FEES! EVER!
I paid the above fee. I just listed 14 auctions. A regular,a reserve,a Buy It Now,and a Dutch auction. I took the highlighted a few times and the "featured" a few more. So far, less than $6 bucks. All 14? YUP
You can enter up to 5 photos per auction, free too!
Now the kicker......no final value fees. Depending on auction listing choice.
You even get a free logo Tshirt.
Want to hear more? I bet you do.
I get points for winning bids. I get points for new members. All you need to do is click on the link. You can even go for as little as 7 days to 365. There is a fee for that.
My first listing (30 days) has had 134 views in one (1) day. On feebay, I never got that on 20 auctions in a month.
I want to see what happens when I sell......is this the way to go for us in the coin collecting world? I think it is for me.
I blew $50 last month on feebay listing fees and sold a $3.00 coin.
    WOO HOO
OH......you can accept various forms of payment too. Remember the check/money order era? PayPal too, but you know all about their(feebay) fees. Credit cards, debit cards, Google, and a few I never heard of.
Please don't email me to death. I am a tired little old man.
If there is one negative response, just one, to my entering the link, you ain't gonna get it from me. If you have the money.....I know you've thrown away more on feebay. I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe this is the wake up call to the high priced place?
If there are no dissenters, I will leave the link tomorrow. Their special is only on for a short time.
    GET WORLDWIDE EXPOSURE TOO!!!
This has been a GREAT day!
OH.......my last submission made it to QC today. I hope they got the hint?
    Peace and tranquility to all.
Have the safest of Holiday weekends!

    I still have them
A lot of my Canadian and New Zealand sets are missing from the Registry. Some are #1 sets too. Where are they? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just when I thought things were going good!
    Hello everyone,
I haven't entered into conversations or added anything significant to my collection.
I just got a prime coin back, and wouldn't you know it. The Registry is down. Oh well.....I can wait.
Congratulations to Todd for his diligence, and persistent attitude. It does pay off!
Well, I am off to find a few more winners for the December deadline......Planning ahead!
Good luck and happy collecting to all!

I registered 8 coins and lost my slot and NGC lost my second set Cleveland.
I know now why I collect coins. It's for the anguish NGC has put me through for these few years. I registered my new Presidential proofs(both sets) and had top slots. Now I am out, and they have misplace the second Cleveland that I registered. I hope no one else goes through this . Every year is the same thing.
    Happy Collecting?

Some are blue labels and some are........
    Hi everyone,
It takes a bit of getting used to the new ER, blue labels. They do look great, and set the coin off with a brighter color. I also got my multiholders today, but alas, they are that same old boring burgundy. It says ER on the label, so I guess it's OK. I but the coin, and the label only states what's inside. I see the minor coins look great in the new label too!
May this trend continue and everyone get a set to put away.
Thanks to the members that helped me this year with my sets. I have a lot of great friends.
P.S. I entered my two ER Presidential sets on the same day and time. My set #2 is now at the top of the page, and #1 is sixth from the top. I didn't do it, but it sure cramps my collection. I compete for the best, have the best, and now lose it's place because the computer modifies my sets? I work hard to obtain my coins and organize my sets. It's a shame to get help when I don't need it. I have asked the set be reinstated to the top of the page where it belongs. We'll see shortly.

I should have volumes to say...........but
    Hi folks,
I have five coins in F/I/S(almost 2 weeks), and no imaging. They received nice grades, but I would like to see what they look like.
Is anyone else seeing a delay in their coins being imaged? I was hoping to have them this week, but I have others, and I bet they are waiting for them to be graded before shipping the lot.
I guess it makes economic sense.
I have 2 at NCS being evaluated. Both are world coin varieties, and who knows what they'll do.
Well, I am hoping to have a few images to look at soon. I always try to get them scanned for everyone to see, but it's taking a bit longer this time.
I almost sent my $20 Canadian proof "plasma" coin, but NGC doesn't do them. What a shame......it's ice blue laser etching.
Well, here's hoping I 'll have something to show soon. I hope you all find something too.
This picture is worth a lot more than 1000 words. Mintage? 1,128.

I see experts are like playoffs. Don't get me started on playoffs.
    Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had a happy, and safe 4th.
I tried a week ago to query the braintrust of the Society, and I am still as baffled as before.
    HELP!!!
I recently acquired a box of pre-decimal New Zealand coins. There are a few 1945 pennies. I'd like to send them to NGC for grading, however, there is also a slot for the 1945 "burnished flan" coin?
How does one tell the difference? KM#s are 13 and 13A. I cannot find a definitive characteristic, that unequivocally separates them.
    How are these so different?
I have some Aussie friends, and have asked a dozen Kiwis, to show me how to tell, and they cannot.
New Zealand coin dealer secret too?
I guess you had to be at the mint when they were struck? No help from the books either. I have checked about a dozen, and some don't even mention them.
I guess if I send a "burnished" 1945 to NCS first it will come out a nice 1945?
It is nice of Krause to throw a few numbers up in the air and not know a thing about what they land upon.
PCGS doesn't even recognize a variety of this coin.
According to population reports, there are none graded?
It's almost like the elusive 1992 Olympic $15 Canada plain rim coins. The Canadians don't even know about them.
    I guess I'll have to start a #1 set of non-existent coins?
I am hoping someone will be able to help me out there.
Show me either coin, and I'll start to consider their existence.
Show me how to identify a burnished 63 year old coin and I will try it.
Until then I'll see if Tom Landry or Bill Parsells have a clue.
Oh, my replacement proofs came from the Mint. I don't need an expert to tell me to send them back. Postage is killing me on this junk. I hope they get it right by the time they start screwing around with the silver sets. It would be a shame to waste good silver on quarters when they need it for Eagles.
If they make proof coins solely for collectors, why are they so
    poor in quality?
I guess I have to buy a graded set to have anything nice.
I hope no one else has these problems, but I am getting fed up with the system.
I do know the answer to this week's trivia though. That was by accident.
Will the real coin experts please stand up?
Oh.....I sent one 1945 in as a "burnished" coin. Now prove it isn't!
    Have a great weekend!

I have sent a few colored silver Ghana coins to be graded, with the COA, yet they cannot be graded according to NGC policy.
    See what you think?
    The reply:
Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we are not able to grade coins that have been colored or altered in any way after being produced from the mint per our grading policy. The alterations may have an effect on the metal and therefore we cannot guarantee the grade and condition of the coin. Thank you
    I rest my case.

    What a ripoff!
    Hello everyone!
I guess you knew my two Lincolns were coming.
FedEx is a joke. I had my subscriptions, expressed from the Mint facility (Indianapolis), and it took 13 days.
I can walk almost that far in 13 days.
The shipment went by my area, and went to MA. It sat there for the weekend. Then it took two days from their terminal to me. Did I get a refund on shipping? What do you think?
Did I cancel my subscriptions with the Mint? What do you think?
My seven day return policy was in question also. I sent sets back three times, at my expense, and still had to buy a few from friends. The Mint sent the sweepings off the floor, and fingerprints to prove it.
If you collect raw coins, use the Mint. If you collect graded coins, buy them already done. It is so much less stressful.
I am tired paying for things and services I don't get. Those that know me, already knew that!
Humans are involved, and they're subject to mistakes. If you think your coins are worth stealing, use U-PIC insurance. That's
    www.u-pic.com. (someone asked)
It isn't on the postal label. I send coins almost everywhere, and never a problem. I actually rely on the integrity of the USPS.
Well, I used a whole Jefferson, but that's my side of it.
    Great collecting to everyone!
