question about cleaning

i have a few coins that look ms60 +

but they have some darkness to them. i know if it were clean it would show some very nice luster and hair and such...but im not going to atemp to clean my self without knowing how to"properly" clean coins. is there a way to clean right? or do i spend the (?) money to get them cleaned by ngc b4 grading?

any feedback would be appreciated:)
