I think I have found some doubling...

but I need some help. I am not very knowledgeably about any series but the Lincoln's!

I was putting together some Whitman folders today and noticed this.

It appears to me this is some sort of date doubling. The "59" in the date are the suspect characters here. As it appears to me, there is definitely a small 5 stamped below the prominent 5 (all of the loop, half of the stem and the tip of the cross bar are visible on this small 5). I think I can also detect a faint hint of a complete 9 stamped over as well. I think both the stem and the loop are present but the stem seems to be more well defined.

I have attached a pic but is not as good as I had hoped. I have the original high res pics I can email to anyone wanting them. You can see what I am talking about but obviously not like having it in hand. I discovered what ever this is using a 10x glass.
