Covering several subjects

A little of this and little of that

Greetings one more time my fellow purveyors of the coin.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and was able to make it through the day without the old, one notch belt release or elastic waist band dance.

Have enjoyed reading all the recent journals and the subjects have been interesting. I recently have had a new safe installed and after researching various desiccants found one I thought I would share. It is the newest kind in that it does not use the Cobalt crystals. Bought it at Amazon.com. After it becomes saturated, you just recharge it in the oven.

Have been diligently working on my raw Franklins to submit for grading in the near future. Have learned so much about this coin this year more specifically how rare it is to find cameos of this coin from the 50s. To understand how the Mint went about striking these proofs and the tools they used on the dies and then using Ivory soap to clean the planchets that left many with the notorious milk spots.

Have been fortunate enough to talk to a few of the so called experts when it comes to Franklins over the last few months and the knowledge they shared about these under-appreciated coins.

Have given thought to the 25th Eagles. Is it wise to sell extra sets so fast or is it wiser to wait and hold the ungraded or graded sets to sell in the future ......... I guess only time will tell.

Did go to the Mints website tonight and the backordered sets are now showing up as in stock and reserved. Of course it doesnt mean anything until they are at the front door. As everyone knows the mint has there own meaning to their wording.

Renewed my membership recently. Didnt want to use my 5 free gradings on the Eagles since I have pre 1955 coins to get graded (Early Bird). Plus the modern tier is pretty inexpensive to begin with.

Good luck to everyone on the awards!

Hey wouldnt it be funny if they had an award for the best Obscure Set ?! I mean you couldnt see it, you dont know what really exist in it, but wow it was a good one !!!! :)

Till next time ......
